      Cell phones were just phones back then, no reason to be using them unless you were making a phone call.

    These where glorious days to live in NY. No virtue signalling, no mobile phones, ordinary people able to afford rent, time square hadn't been completely disneyfied yet etc..

      My family moved from New York to Florida in 1994. I don’t miss it at all but I remember hearing about all the changes under Rudy Giuliani.

    80s and 90s cars were beautiful. early 2000s were still good. but late 2000s to now......

    I just like how much less populated the city was. Room to actually walk on the sidewalks in midtown without having to navigate around idiot tourists

    Hard to believe that the newest MTA buses in service when this was taken are still in service today

      They werent even that new then. Take a look at the opening scene of "The Pope of Greenwich Village." You'll see the same bus even then in 1983-4

      Yeah, those 1996 RTS's. They lasted 22 years, with the last ones retiring in December 2018.

      We had buses here in San Diego retire last year that were commissioned in 1997. They were honestly in better shape than the newer ones after a few years lol

      aw man dude. They wore hella north face in the 90's by far. Its crazy because I learned that not too long ago. When I was in the 10th-12 grade in hs back between 2011-14 everybody broke out with northface during the fall and winter months. I don't see them as much as I used too

      80s cars are built like tanks. 90s cars were plastic and people junked them fast.

      1991 was the last year American made a full metal car. the 1991 grand marquis was the last boxy metal car. It's a shame

    Was this filmed on a Saturday or Sunday? My guess is that it was a Sunday morning. It was very slow-paced.

      I didn't know when that had happened. When I commuted down Fifth from E 83rd St by bus, it was southbound only (early seventies). Thank you.

    I remember leaving Tavern on the Green and watching a pedestrian get annoyed at a Taxi and "stomp walked" right on the hood and roof and off the trunk and kept walking. Priceless.
