I lived there twenty years ago with my mom cuz she divorced my dad, we lived in the green one that the roof was falling down on. I found out that the reason they shut it down was cause the septic was running into the tap water. I had weird experiences in the attic of that house. Scary creepy stuff

Two things, the owners charge $35 and you can go in any of the houses. And those weren’t homeless people camping. They were trout fishing. I used to live in Yellowdog. We moved in 1979. It was awesome to grow up there! Many, many fond memories!

One person owns the entire Yellow Dog Village. It was purchased in 2022. The owner hopes to fully restore the village to its 1920s glory. Hopefully they can make it happen before all the houses crumble. I think the village has like 19 homes. Very cool exploration Post10.

Holy Yinzer, Post. You were in my backyard. I live about half an hour away in New Kensington, birthplace of the aluminum industry and original home of Alcoa.
Next time you come down this way, make sure you get yourself a capicola and cheese sammitch at Primanti Brothers. By the way, loved your video about the Kinzua Viaduct. Have you ever done a piece about Titusville, Pa. and the Drake Oil Well? Fascinating history.
Btw.....Knock off the cracks about Pittsburgh....we had a couple hundred thousand people in town last weekend for a pair of Taylor Swift concerts with zero shootings. It's actually a relatively safe big city.

Sometimes the zoning laws prohibit tearing down buildings until the buildings are completely condemned. This entices the realty companies or investors who want the property to break windows and undermine structures where they can to accelerate the deterioration.

In Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, the former mining town of Kramer successfully revitalized itself into the village of Stump Creek. You could buy a house then for two or three thousand. That price included the outhouse. That was back in the 1970's, though. Gruda Metals had a huge recycling center there. It's about halfway between DuBois and Punxsutawney.

Eh, 50 miles from Pittsburgh is not that close a proximity, and that town was not vandalized because of it. You made it sound like it’s in the inner city and that Pittsburgh is a bad place. Most of the old mining and mill towns in this part of the state have fallen onto hard times, and their construction was probably substandard to begin with. Company houses were built pretty basic and on the cheap, to squeeze more profit for the mine/mill owners.

@@ForTheBirbs I think your phone is the last one to have an external memory card slot which I would love to have because I just use large capacity SD cards and take him out when they're full so I can keep a backup but this new phone I just got they no longer have a external card slot because they say not many people use them and it is so hard to get big files off to the extent I'm actually going to have to buy a laptop, I bought this new phone just for its massive internal storage because my editor can't save into a card for some reason it needs the internal

What a depressing place. Don't worry about missing out on seeing the inside of blight. We can see clear enough from the outside. This is my overall impression of Pennsylvania. A love of vandalism and decay. Football taught at all the schools. Big plans for the future.

I knew this area looked familiar-- I went to Westminster college for a couple of years :D this isn't far away! Rural PA is spooky for sure, and I'd take my chances with squatters any day over homeowners dedicated enough to booby-trap their properties!!!

I'm going to guess that most any abandoned structures in US will get vandalized if discovered. Pittsburgh is 40 minutes away. It's hard to imagine people driving that far to vandalize houses.

Boom town gone bust. It was a mining town and that business is gone. It is deep in the rural parts of PA so no businesses to support the need for the houses to stay functional.

The tents may be people who are fishing and stopped to avoid the rain. You did say it was the riverside...
