1. The words are important - there should be no vulgarity or violation of the fundamental creed of Islam.
2. The music should not be arousing the passions of lust, violence etc

See but the problem is when a muslim boys or men sings form bands , do shows no maulvi or Mufti cares to give fatwa. But when a muslim girl do the same many fatwas pour in. Why this double standard. Either you speak with equal force against things which is not permitted in Islam to both the genders or none. There are many muslim men in Kashmir who has band and sings , no one give fatwa?

Sangeet ka ta'alluq Dil ke sukun se hota hai aur Quran sukun ke ta'alluq se kehta hai " ala bizikrillaahi tatmainnul Qulub" means tranquility lies in zikr of Allah only.
So if you are seeking tranquility in any other things your knowledge is limited.
There are many changes in Islamic commandments but we need to see in last phase of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The shariat completed before the demise of prophet. Before that many changes are made. For example people used to take wine and came to masjid but later on it was prohibited.
