I have to agree. Asian parents sometimes don’t utilize the funds with purpose for the child. You should Ask the child what he/she needs, then provide them with actual needs.

Hey Troy - I had the idea to give a bicycle to a poor person (in Cuba) several years ago. It's a perfect idea to make someone's life better. Now I might actually do it.
I guess you can only trust that gran will do the right thing! Just like giving a homeless man money, you can only hope they will spend it wisely! Though if people are worried that much you could always work with a clinic or hospital to ensure that those who you want to get treatment actually get it. Instead of billing their family they could just set up an account you have access to for viewers and supporters to help cover costs for those you want to help and could allow you to monitor the progress of their treatment! It would cut out a middle man, you could also do the same for schooling. An education in this world is the most important tool they will ever need! When you have so little like her you know what to appreciate, those who actually care! You know she will probably end up being the Next Troy Vietnam, making sure people see the truth behind the people of the world!

Interesting that Harvey keitel says the grandma is a gambler. I would not be surprised as she seem not genuine. I've seen people like her back when I grew up in vietnam, it's their situation that molded them the way they are. I wouldn't suggest just giving her cash, but following up with what the cash was used for, she might be getting brainwashed by her Ba Noi (Gran on dad's side) to say or act certain ways as well.
