Night Watch and Subtle Art have my favorite bases. Solace is one of Thomas’s best scents, that tallow base is great for a Straight Razor Shaver. Great shave.
Hi Cape Cod Wet Shaving! When Solace first came out, I had to have it due to the art work and scent notes..... unfortunately, something in the soap hurt my face.... I tried it several times to make sure and it stings every time. Also I have soaps with all the scent notes of Solace but I don't like the scent of Solace. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if it's just a matter of, " YMMV "?
A scent is rarely one that everyone likes. There are some I love that friends do not, and vice versa. I also have soaps with these scent notes, but none that have these specific ones together. For instance, bay and tobacco are frequently put together, but almost never with fir or pine. Know what I mean? There's nothing wrong with not liking a scent. You can even stay away from it for a while and revisit it at a later date. You'd be surprised; scent preference evolves constantly. As for the burning, frag burn is a common occurrence. I personally have been lucky so far, but it happens more often than not. Did you react to the soap or splash? Or both? A friend of mine can't have anything with Almond in it, he breaks out every time. I hope this helped!

It was just the soap that hurt my face, the splash didn't but I also didn't like the scent of the splash either.... to each their own I guess
