No, Don't push only scr file, push all folder and files, specially package.json because it has all information about packages of your project. Only pushing SRC folder is not the great option.😄

whats the use of the .gitignore file? What sort of issues may occur if one chooses not to include it with the files

Gitignore file will include all files/folders name which we don't want to upload on github. Most commanly we always ignore node_modules folder because It's heavy and too much files...
If you don't want to add gitignore file...It's okay but Its not a good practice🙂
