I remember watching this game on TV at the time when I was 10 years old. In those days it was always a big event when live games were shown. The following day was England v Scotland, also live, so that weekend was a real treat.
I was 13 when I saw this game on tv. I forgot Keith waller played in that game. I thought that I was lucky for cfc. Then we played stoke. 1st biggest disappointed I had as a chelsea fan. Oh well. Great memories. 👍.😊
I WAS 7 YEAR OLD AND SAW THIS GAME FROM GREEK TV. I WAS CHELSEA FUN FROM 6 YEAR OLD. ALL COFFE SHOP WERE FULL FROM PEOPLES FUN OF FOOTBALL.AFTER SECOND MATCH MANY GREEKS BECAME FRIENDS OF CHELSEA. FIRST LIVE FOOTBALL MATCH FOR GREEK TV. C-H-E-L-S-E-A ,GO CHELSEA !!!!
Don’t often get to see the footage of this match ! I remember buying the recording on an LP record 😮 and listening to it as an eight year old , how times have changed !
Charlie Cooke (reputedly off the back of a bottle of vodka), Huddy and the back four kept the Blues in this, and Peter the Great knocked a daisy cutter in down the yellow brick road. Magic. Nearly 50 years ago.
I went to Australia the week before this game......was kicking myself but flight was booked in advance and non refundable. Great to look back on what I missed . Is that snow......in May? Don’t miss that......
+PrZemek44 Don't know if they ever will now, what with the logistics of thousands of fans having to make a second long trip for the replay. Though there is some romance to it all. This final was played in Athens and the replay was only two days later. Many CFC fans had to go home on chartered flights but loads stayed over. Many stories of supporters who had run out of money sleeping rough and the players helping out with tickets and accommodation so they could see the team triumph.
PrZemek44 was one of the many fans that missed flight home for replay. Spent Day on beach only for Chelsea players to arrive for relaxing day got free tickets from Peter Osgood at stadium. Great memories
chelseacharger. You can still watch it on tv ;) I know, it's obviously unrealistic, but sometimes one team seems so much better and then... it's even more difficult to focus on penalties if you know you've "almost made it!" Yes, Norman, great memories... I watched both games back in Poland as a kid, was a huge fan of English football...
I love watching these old games
Thanks as ever. It's great to see these games that were just retrospective scores on a page when I was growing up.

Penality kickouts are the best with football
Fleitas un gran delantero olvidado por la afición del Madrid
Oldies
I think Alan Weeks is the commentator
Ken Wolstenholme at Salonika, Alan Weeks commented the first match.
