I think what beigoma and beyblade got right is having multiple types of top, because when they're all the same they move similarly and don't bump into eachother enough to be exciting.
Beigomas are practically the same: octagonal and conic base and tip. It is only with beyblade where they introduced different tips and contact surfaces (attack rings) where things got varied.
This is a great example of Einstein's theory of general relativity about gravity where the spinning top represent worlds/moons and the stadium represents a curved space-time and the centre if anything is the sun.
