I had the pleasure of meeting here in the 1970's when she came to Torbay, Devon, for a Summer Season. Had a wonderful chat with her for a long time. A lovely lady.
Only two months or so ago, I saw one of her ukulele banjos up for auction. It was a Gibson (the guitar company) and it was a beautiful instrument. It sold for an awful lot of money. It's just lately, through TH-cam, that I've learned of her and George Formby. She, and Formby, defined the word "entertainer". I'm American and glad to find out about them. In a nutshell they were just fun and enjoyable to watch. They kept you riveted, upbeat, happy and laughing.
-CONTINUED- Aside from being British, it seems obvious, though hard to put into words, that The Beatles were in a sense spiritual descendents of George Formby and Tessie O'Shea. They had an innate talent to just make everything upbeat and joyfull with their music and even their mere presence had that positive effect. If you really give it serious thought, you'll realize that the ability to have that effect on people is exceedingly rare.
Miss O'shea was an institution, I fondly remember her from the Good Old Days. She died in 1995 in Florida of heart failure at the age of 82, link on wikipedia for further info.

One of the greatest of her time? One of the greatest of ALL time!
We Welsh always loved her. She conquered America, and that took some doing!
So good to see some of her later stuff
God bless her! Thanks for the entertainment Tessie!
