Coming back to this version again! MIKI Masuda really gave energy to this song throughout. It had the anger and determination and the section after 2:50 till the end cemented me as a fan of her. Made me go find her on IG and also here on TH-cam. I wish she had a lot more exposure and got to sing really powerful songs like this more often. Imagine MIKI on one of the AoT tracks singing an epic song!
WOW! This was totally Miki's song! I had my mouth open at times just listening to the colors I was getting from her. I'd first liked her soft, gentle and breathy tone in other songs and her controlled head voice. I wasn't expecting this! Especially starting from 3:26 and culminating at 4:26 she really turned on the snarl and the bite of her voice! Beginning with her belts mask resonance, resonance and the piercing power belt that ended it all! She really got to navigate her stylistic abilities more here. Now one of my favorites! I want to hear her in more! She could easily be a front woman for a rock band!!! Seriously Revo gathered a powerful and diverse set of vocalists for his projects. Probably my favourite (almost daresay I, sirpassing FJ and Sawano) collection of vocalists! I keep getting blown away the more I watch the videos (and Kaori and REMI and Joelle came from here too)! 🤯
I went on to watch the other version with Kaori, Yuuki, and Mari, and had to comment again! In spite of my liking for Mari as an individual and also love for Kaori coming from FJ I do have to say that this MIKI version just does it for me because of the wide contrast in styles within the song - from a soft, breathy soothing crooner tone to that compressed, piercing, nasal resonating rock tone with the way she modified the vowels and she slayed the "Moulin Rouge" belt at the end (Kaori went to head voice in her own version, though I felt she could have belted it - so artistic choice I guess). The mix of vocals in terms of talent, experience and vocal colours was deeper in this MIKI version between the three of them. And REMI's tone was just a bit more appropriate than Mari's to my ear for the classical parts they took in the song. Kaori's group were the young pretty ladies so even their dressing was more modern, fitted and flattering. MIKI and her group were like the big sisters or aunt's in comparison so their dresses were large and swept the floor. I was pitying MIKI as she struggled to move the dress around while still giving her energy to the music. But her voice was not hampered at all!! What a performance!
Yes, REMI has a more consistent and stronger foundation in her vocal than Mari. MIKI is awesome. She is a more experienced singer than Kaori and her more sharpish twangy belty resonant actually fit this song more. Kaori's is a much smoother voice so it doesn't have the effect of piercing through rock bands satisfyingly like MIKI's does. Some fans said jokingly that this is the start of her "witch" phase because she came back in a later project as playing as a witch, so it's quite fitting, lol. Have you checked the Marchen out? MIKI got to explore her voice quite extensively in that one. I think REVO got MIKI as a substitute for RIKKI to fit the motherly voice when she wasn't available in one of his live and she stuck around.

I suggest you listen to the albums in order of horizons: Chronicle 2nd, Thanatos, Lost, Elysion, Roman, Moira, Märchen. Also important to listen to Reloaded because it has most of the context needed to figure out the big picture of the ENTIRE lore. Do not listen to Nein until you have listened to everything else!
