- Dr. Tyrone Hayes discusses his journey as a scientist: initially just a “young boy who really liked frogs,” he would go on to earn worldwide fame for his work on the harmful effects of the pesticide atrazine. Arguing that “those who have the privilege to know, have the duty to act,” Dr. Hayes details his decade-long feud with Syngenta, the manufacturer of atrazine, as well as his acute observation that those who suffer most from the environmental impacts of harmful chemicals tend to be the socioeconomically-disadvantaged and racial or ethnic minorities.
At the University of California, Berkeley, and in ponds around the world, professor Tyrone Hayes studies frogs and other amphibians. He's become an active critic of the farm chemical atrazine, which he's found to interfere with the development of amphibians' endocrine systems. But yeah, the logical not so far fetched conspiracy theories brought forth by intelligent investigative journalists like James Corbett, on point and are a cause for EXTREME concern... and like Tyrone said... "those who have the privilege to know have the duty to act."
And this is just about ONE pesticide. There are hundreds of other pesticides that cause the same or worse adverse health effect. North America should be called the land of harmful chemicals. We got “rich” by exploiting and rearranging nature, but at what cost?

It's an alright performance. He has a duty as such a knowledgable man to adhere to conventional beauty standards and increase his performance abilities, which he could easily do by attending an improv or acting class once or twice a month. Running for office or getting involved with some level of the political discourse would be extremely important as well.
People give better performances for all sorts of things, in commercials and TV shows, on sports, local and global news, most forms of entertainment. The people have collectively decided that it is too inconvenient to act responsibly. They are far more concerned about what is personally convenient and comfortable than what is truly best for themselves and their community.

This has been motivating me to truly get into biochemistry and alternative eco-friendly sciences! Extremely! We have a huge water crisis on our hands, and a huge generational dilema that will continue to repeat itself if we do not make a change

I absolutely love this Ted Talk. I’ve listened to it twice in a row now. Honestly his research is so interesting, and his speech is phenomenal. He’s obviously a an amazing public speaker, and I looked up some of his research and it’s just as interesting. He’s so cool and I love him.

Thanks so much to Dr. Hayes for explaining, and shining light on this abhorently undisclosed topic. He mentioned taking action, and reaching out to the EPA to try and get this banned, which I think is very important, and have already done. Please, if you haven't, I urge you to tell the people around you, and of course since you're here, continue to look beyond the veneers put up by people who intend to make the world worse.

what do you think would lead atrize company to ask for studies done on hormone changes of frogs that have been exposed to atrazine? Think that Atrazine company may have had suspicions of the side effects after their own conducted studies !?
Yes Dallas, good question. Let me see if I can give my two cents. Companies as these have an infinite amount of funds, so research is not an issue for them financially. Research is done in preparation for lawsuits that would otherwise impact their revenue negatively if not prepared. They already know or suspect, that their work is harmful to the environment and to millions of human beings, so they have to be on the ball and know all that they possibly can to counteract claims that may be brought against them. When they know what their accusers know of their works, they can prepare fact and scientifically based counter arguments to win lawsuits at every turn.
