At the time the video was taken Réne was still alive but he was seriously ill. Unfortunately I couldn't meet him. To be honest I am truly grateful for the opportunity to spend some time with the cast! Respect to all of them!
so funny! Helga is still so beautiful, and Lieutenant Gruber still so funny, but Herr Flick steals this compilation. The audience loves it - do they have Allo, Allo! in Bulgaria? It must be impossible to do some of it, particularly Officer Crabtree the English Policeman, in any other language...
+Robert, yes, we have it dubbed in Bulgarian and it is almost as good as the original. We had a great time with the actors that night, it was amazing, have rarely laughed so hard...
That must be a major achievement by the translators. The show appears so simple but in the very first couple of episodes the writers are at great pains to explain that the silly accent means a different language and the English airmen cannot understand the Resistance worker until she switches language "I say, chaps...." It would never be made today!
