When I canceled my Gold card, I was offered the same retention offer as you did: $2k spend for 10k points! I had a different response: I laughed, and then canceled the card. Not worth it for me. Maybe will have P2 get it in the future for the welcome offer.

Great video Anthony! I love my Gold card, the credits really work for me because I was already using Uber Eats and my kids love Shake Shack so we go at least once a month. I prefer the classic Gold but just asked for a design change to the Rose Gold with the intention of going back to the classic Gold in a couple of months. I want to have all versions in my collection. Now with the possibility of the White Gold, I’ll do a change to the White Gold from the Rose and eventually go back to the classic. Can’t beat the classic Gold, it’s such an elegant card.

That White Gold is dope!!! But, I’m holding to my AMEX GOLD card. I’m single and a traveler by career. I got the Delta Platinum and was surprised I’m able to use the Resy credit. So, if the AMEX adds Resy to the card (won’t be happy about it)… I think I can take advantage of it still.

Just got the Gold about 2 weeks ago, I'm assuming it depends on your relationship with AMEX, but before I actually applied, I signed into my AMEX account, and the 90k MR points offer changed from 6k in spend to 4k in spend in 6 months. So something to keep in mind as well.

It’s interesting because I’ve always compared the Amex gold to most of the other mid tier cards from other lenders, like the Sapphire Preferred, Venture, Citi Premier, and now Autograph Journey. This higher annual fee puts the Amex gold almost as high as the Venture X now. That white gold looks sweet though 👀

Please no RESY credits. Why not just do a $25 dollar a month “food credit” to be used a resy, Grubhub, uber etc.. if they raised the fee to 325 and added a RESY only credit I might have to tap out. I am locked in for the year. White gold looks sick.

Yup the Business Gold is powerful buy gift cards monthly at an office supplies store and get $20 monthly credit ha. Also 4x gas stations is a nice addition you also still get 4x restaurants! Oh and my POF is massive hahahaha, won’t use it but there it sits massive as ever lol.

The ONLY time I got referrals for the gold card was when my referral link offered 90k points. If true, I wouldn't mind seeing if they could swap my gold for the white gold. Think it would be cool to have more color versions of their charge cards like a cobalt blue color. The Amex Cobalt Card LOL! I don't know just thinking of ideas. I feel they need a card to bridge the gap between Gold and Platinum more appropriately, the annual fee jump from Gold to Platinum is steep so why not that Amex Cobalt yeah? $495 AF? 5x points on gas for that one bruh, the usual 1x on everything else and I don't know 3x points on some other category we all love besides food. You pick that one and one other to make it like a sweet spot idea.

Dang no updates yet this morning… I did interestingly notice that when I went through the amex app to replace my card/ change card design, the platinum and gold offered 85% reclaimed plastic options. Not the white gold, but I haven’t seen plastic as an option before. May help lighten my wallet!

I rarely used the Walmart Plus as an employee when I used to work there since it was free while employed there except for gas, so the Walmart membership even on Platinum would be useless to me. The Waltons have enough money. The less I give them and their companies along with a Sam's Club membership which I never shop at, the better.
I’m sorry to say this… if and when that annual fee increase to $325, I will cancel this Gold Card altogether… I still have my Amex Green Card I can use for dining and my Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card for groceries…

It can be a very useful card for the right person, especially with the credits if you already spend in those areas. As with most travel cards, you need to be the right person for the card. Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't invalidate the value it brings.
@@samvilms i would argue the CSR is. I wouldn’t put any actual spending on the platinum besides the free credit’s we get and I also wouldn’t take it overseas as my only travel card since amex isnt accepted every where.

If true, I wouldn't mind seeing if they could swap my gold for the white gold. Think it would be cool to have more color versions of their charge cards like a cobalt blue color. The Amex Cobalt Card LOL! I don't know just thinking of ideas. I feel they need a card to bridge the gap between Gold and Platinum more appropriately, the annual fee jump from Gold to Platinum is steep so why not that Amex Cobalt yeah? $495 AF? 5x points on gas for that one bruh, the usual 1x on everything else and I don't know 3x points on some other category we all love besides food. You pick that one and one other to make it like a sweet spot idea.

Dang no updates yet this morning… I did interestingly notice that when I went through the amex app to replace my card/ change card design, the platinum and gold offered 85% reclaimed plastic options. Not the white gold, but I haven’t seen plastic as an option before. May help lighten my wallet!

Yo antho so do you happen to know when they raised the annual fee from 195 to 250 did they offer am elevated offer at the time?
Was around 2018. They revamped the whole points formula and credits then with 4x on groceries and restaurants as well as 120 dining credit.

I rarely used the Walmart Plus as an employee when I used to work there since it was free while employed there except for gas, so the Walmart membership even on Platinum would be useless to me. The Waltons have enough money. The less I give them and their companies along with a Sam's Club membership which I never shop at, the better.

I agree the gold card is trash after the sub. The platinum is a great card for its benefits and perks. Not for actual spending
It can be a very useful card for the right person, especially with the credits if you already spend in those areas. As with most travel cards, you need to be the right person for the card. Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't invalidate the value it brings.
The amex platinum is the single best travel card by far. Are you smoking a new type of drug?

I also wouldn’t take it overseas as my only travel card since amex isnt accepted every where.
