This is probably my favorite video on the channel. Wumbo starts out forcing himself out of t-spin setups, knowing that tetris's are going to be much better in this style of gameplay. the opposition does not take him seriously at all until he takes no damage on the first attack. likely due to his low skill rating against very high rated players (in this game mode) After the first attack, veryone speeds up, yellow starts outpacing himself, and wumbo is no longer working up t spin setups as often reds skill really shows here and throughout the rest of the video. I was on the edge of my seat watching this. Wumbo takes no damage for the rest of the video and badgers them with attacks until they fall. An amazing fight, and one of the best videos ive seen on the channel for sure. Really hope to see at least one more of these in the future!
Thank you for this, as someone who loves watching tetris but has no fucking idea what's going on this gives so much context to the gameplay and I super appreciate it
It's like YOU are the true final boss that the others failed to defeat. Their Zone Attacks couldn't get past your iron-clad defense and you didn't get any garbage. Can't wait for more Connected Vs.
@@hihello5590 You press a button in rhythm with the beat to the music. You do that until your board gets filled. The other two players can fill parts of it by getting Tetrises or T-Spins.
For those wondering how to revive yourself, here's how: 1. Press one of the rotate buttons to the beat when the circle closes in. The beat doesn't change during battle. 2. Other players Tetrises and T-Spins help get you back faster as well. I know someone here already said it, but it helps to get this information sooner. Also, when you are about to "Connect", any attacks the boss tries is canceled and they switch to defense automatically. The raiders should just hard drop their pieces so you have maximum lines incoming and less to drop to attack sooner. Just don't do it if your matrix is almost full, don't need you KOing yourself before the bombs drop....or in this case, lines.🥃
Yeah, you might notice when Wumbo is clearing lines during their zone attack (When his icon says DEFENSE), it creates glowing orbs that surround the icon. Each of them blocks a certain amount of damage from the zone attack. He simply clears enough lines that he blocks all damage, and still has some of them left over.
Ok so here's how I think it works for people who don't know Boss attacks: As the boss vlears lines, that glowing ring/circle under their board fills up. When it fills, there is an attack sent; basically a "punishment" that makes the raiders' boards more difficult to clear Boss defense: When the 3 raiders goes to the 3 person working together part, as they complete lines, they charge up an attack that will give the boss lines of garbage on the bottom of their board, depending on how many lines are cleared. The boss can block this damage by clearing lines on their side (when their glowing ring says "DEFENSE") Ik I missed the small details, add them below here I suppose :)
Nah, you got it right. People who play this game for the first time don't know how attacks in this mode goes. As the boss, you can switch between Attack and Defense at will. You can build up wisps do defend when you know the raiders are going to fuse or "Connect". Or you can slow them down with a few attacks to build up defense. Also to clear lines as the boss the raiders sent over, switch to defense. You will notice that the lines below will dull in color and clear out. This mode is a balancing act for the boss more than anything. However, once you get overwhelmed, its best to get rid of enough junk lines first to give yourself more room in your matrix to work with.🥃
3:49 I have never seen a t spin in a connected zone before Again this team seemed fairly strong. It is complete nonsense to me how tetramidion needs roughly the same amount (about 3 tetrises) of power to send attacks, while the attacks get stronger and stronger (e.g. FAST at the end seemed to be reducing lock delay to the point where even nick wasn't able to keep up with it)
The thing that sticks to me though, is that they only got one three player zone in, the others were between wavy and nick. Willy kept dying just before their meter charged.
I don't know if Back-To-Backs give a bigger boost, but it looks like Tetrises give more to the meter just like how T-Spins do since they may have a similar power level.
Honestly some of the attacks Connected uses are just mean. Normal garbage just limits the amount of room you have to work with, but can be dealt with. Filling the screen with random blocks is inconvenient but also solvable. Shuffle, holes, and all of their variations has to be the single most rude way to attack a tetris player, as it completely undoes a shitload of work that you now have to redo. Literally the only reason Blue and Yellow kept dying so much is just bad RNG, since they never got the chance to recover from each attack.
Tspins do very little in this mode. Since Garbage can be so devastating, Tetrises are usually difficult, so their value was bumped up whilst spins were bumped down. Wumbo, meanwhile, found the master strat of doing good enough to never take damage and spam the enemy with garbage, meaning he just has to stay consistently above a certain threshold to be safe.
In the Future, Your Stream name changes from "Squirtle" to "Wartortle". And After a Bunch of Years, Your Streamer Name changes from "Wartortle" to "Blastoise"
I think the more line you clear the more garbage clear is saving up, and when they attack you at once the garbage clear amount will be totalled to the amount of attacks of the 3 players
i dont get it, how does wumbo attack the other three? is the attack automatic? or wumbo has to do something? then what is it? (Sorry, I just dont know how tetris effect works
This is what I think is happening: Everytime Wumbo (aka the boss player) cleans a line, there will be a glowing aura that will fill up. And what I'm guessing is that when that glowing aura is filled it will launch a random attack to the 3 other players
Oh come ON guys. Beating the Wumbomidion is easy. You just have to keep all 4 people on your team alive until the attack gauge is filled and... What do you MEAN you only brought three? You poor, poor souls...
