We went meandering after arriving at baxter last summer and did a loop like you describe. We did NOT plan it and started at 1. We went minimal and were VERY hungry when we returned to camp. We had enough ponds! Beautiful hike though. I wish we had time for a canoe ride.
It’s a shame that the weather was so cloudy for us as I’d like to see the views of the high peaks (and canoe, too), but when we’re back next time and the weather is good we probably won’t “waste” good days on ponds when we can go higher. It’s a real conundrum.
That's some super clear water in Little Abol Falls!
Yes it was! Crystal clear there, upper Katahdin Stream, and Howe Brook. Everywhere else was heavily stained with tannins.

How do you know all the names of each mountain? Do you have an app or something?
I have PeakFinder. For the higher peaks in Baxter, I know them by sight (except for when I totally mess up and call Coe one of the Brothers…sigh).
@laurasoule2771 Thanks, and really enjoy your channel
