I think most of new actors nowadays have inadequate life experience and also have not enough preparation to engaged in this sector. For example, they might not gain enough professional training or qualifications of being an actor or actress !
Lau Ching Wan and Michael Tao were part of the 1980s TVB training course. I think back in those days, the training was more serious and the actors had tons of opportunities to act as extras early on to hone their skills. By the 90s, they were already season veterans. Also the writers were more daring in the 80s and 90s. Sure you might get some shows that are duds, but when they hit a home run, they become instant classics. These days it's too formulaic and writers are always being safe. TVB has become too corporate and not willing to take chances. TV dramas have evolved a lot around the world. TVB in comparison is very dated. I feel like they should focus on the quality of their shows and not just crank out show after show just for quantity.
