I have a lot of N scale Amtrak trains too. Much more by Kato. My N scale Acela by Bachmann is sort of a potato in my collection because the decoder is messed up. Soon I’ll order a new one. And I honestly have yet to get the Kato ACS-64 and Amfleet I set. BTW if you’re enjoying the Kato ALC 42 chargers try getting one by Bachmann in N scale when they arrive. I hope Bachmann or Kato will come out in N scale with the new Avelia Liberty when it starts service on the NEC.
Very nice collection of Amtrak trains. I have not seen the Acela available in N Scale, but I just got back into N Scale in the last 5-6 years. I have to say your cantenary ( pardon if misspelled) looks great. Is it functional or just there to complete the look? I was at a train show in Grapevine, TX a couple of weeks ago and they had an HO layout that used the cantenary. The layout is looking great. I feel your pain with the Acela hesitation toward the end of the video. We've all been there. Now I need to find an N Scale Acela. You would think with all the high speed trains Kato has for the Japan market they would make the one US high speed train. Keep up the good work. I always enjoy your videos.
Thanks for your message! The catenary is purely for the look but I could make it functional. However it doesn't add that much and it doesn't bring a smooth run to your engine, I've tried it, it was pure crap. :( I hope Kato will release an N scale Acela at some point
It’s very creepy how the N scale Acela gets its power from the cafe car instead of one of the power cars like the HO version. Isn’t? And it won’t take the tight curves. That’s why the set came with the widest curve track. But I like using the wider curved track for locomotives and certain train cars that won’t overhang on tighter curves. Don’t hold your breath on getting a better N scale Acela because soon the current ones will be retired and replaced with the Avelia Liberty. I hope an N scale Avelia will do better. Getting its power from one of the power cars rather than a passenger or cafe car.
These trains looked huge and then..5:43
