    So what if it still blinks after trying all other connections for the LAN cable ?
    Already tried to reset it aswell no luck ?

      Try giving your Hue device a "reserved IP address" in your router settings and reboot everything. Good luck! Helpful video: th-cam.com/video/dCAsHdRBrag/w-d-xo.html

    I hardly ever touch the bridge and forgot there’s a phone/ether cable it’s midnight and I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t find connection if there’s wifi 🛜 for all else … Thank you 😆❗️🎉🙆🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

    Mine haven't been working correctly for nearly a year. The time based dimming wasn't working, the app wouldn't connect even though Apple Home still functioned for controlling the lights and so did all of the accessories. I tried everything including buying a new hub and that wouldn't connect either.
    I turned off DHCP as you suggested and the new hub connected to the internet straight away. I reinstalled all the bulbs and accessories and everything works again.
    Nice one!

    Dang this really saved me. My power didn’t even go out, but I lost internet connection briefly today and this video saved me. I had no idea how to do the DHCP step, so all I did was switch where it was plugged into my xFi gateway and it’s fixed! I am curious if you ever were able to plug it back into where it was before? Like what if this happens again and all my ports have been used and had this issue? Lol I might be pre-stressing, but I am worried it will happen again! Thanks so much ✨

      I know what you mean, nerve wrecking whenever the lights flicker. My Google thermostat just stopped connecting to WiFi after outage here recently. Sorry lol. I would have been more detailed about the reservation step had I known so many people would encounter the same issue. Happy to hear the plug cycling remedied it 😀Would love to do a update or part 2 about the IP reservation part, just been so busy. Ty!

    ** Update** 5/20/20 Since making this video, I replaced several small switches on my home network with one large tplink switch and we've had a few power outages from storms. So far, the device has not had the issue return, it has booted normally. Whatever originally causes this issue to occur is still unknown and I have not experienced it since. I listed the steps I took above.

    Is it important to give the bridge a reserved DHCP address? If so, how do you do this? Thanks in advance

    • @gmott2010
      @gmott2010  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It shouldn't be important. However, my bridge went into an offline mode for hours and wouldn't reconnect. I tried a few different things but never reconnected. I finally got it to work by assigning it an address and resetting. I haven't had any issues since.
      Assigning a reserved address all depends on your router. I would look up your routers model number. You should be able to download the .pdf manual from the manufacturers website. The manual may even include screen shots.

  • @brooklynant2047
    @brooklynant2047 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You said a lot without really saying anything so watching this I’m more confused than before.
    How did you “reserve” your dchp address? What settings did you change on your router & how?
    You see what I mean? You really never gave anyone the answer to the problem. I can fix it by rebooting my router & Hue Hub but it keeps happening again eventually & who wants to keep doing that?

    • @gmott2010
      @gmott2010  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You misunderstand my video all together. I am sharing an experience I had with my device and some of the things I tried. If you learn from it great.
      Sorry if you're not tech savvy but I'm not your IT dept. so if you want someone's help, learn to ask for help without being rude.
      I've already stated everyone's equipment is different and to refer to YOUR service manual/youtube on how to perform those tasks. You see what I mean? Do some research, these steps are pretty basic. Good luck!

      I have a newer linksys ac router and since, I established a static IP, I haven't had any issues. I don't why this fixed my problem. When I searched online I found no help. I posted this video hoping that someone else might have similar luck. It appears to not be the same fix for a lot of folks. I wonder if it varies by router.

    Ok so my bridge was working like a charm until 30 mins ago when it just stopped working, the first led is liten but the 2 others don't work at all, even though it's connected to my switch.
    What can I do?

    • @gmott2010
      @gmott2010  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like in my situation, something in the Hue Bridge or Router (a setting, memory or data) was corrupt. My goal was to basically force a reset of the device and the devices existence on the network. I would try cross referencing some of the success comments on this video with the steps I point out as well, see if anything affects your device in the same way. Seems like some people are getting success with tweaking their router settings and physically unplugging/resetting wires.
      Steps I took:
      Reboot Hue Bridge
      Reboot Router
      Log into Router Admin Settings (from PC, Phone, Tablet) 192.168.X.X
      Locate Device on Network (list of connected devices)
      Change IP address of Hue Bridge (one not in use by any other device)
      Give Hue Bridge Static/Reserved (varies by router see manual)
      Save/Reboot Router
      Unplug Hue Ethernet Connection & Plug Into New Port on Switch/Router

      Tim look up “how to assign static/reserved IP addresses for your specific router. Once you know how to do it for your specific device, look for and assign an IP to your Phillips bridge.
      When you save settings on your router (depending on your router) it causes your router to reboot/reset/update etc.
      Next just unplug the power to the bridge and if it’s connected to a network switch unplug the power to that too.
      Swap Ethernet ports for the Philips bridge on the back of the network switch. Turn the power back on to all devices.
      Watch for the indicator light to turn solid. Mine did less than a min.

    sorry I speak spanish and I don't understand what to do. My lights say: unable to connect. Status: connecting.
    And they don't connect. I reset the router, the brigde and it still doesn't work. What should I do?

    • @gmott2010
      @gmott2010  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Google your router model and find the manual. Look up how to assign "Static or Reserved IP Address" instructions for your router. In your routers settings assign the Philips Device a new IP address and reset your devices. Change the ethernet port that your Philips Hue is plugged into as well (see video).
      Seems like a combination of these steps are getting the device to connect for some people.

    Thank you for sharing. I edited my reply to share what issue I had, in case anyone else has made a stupid mistake like I did. While I was trying to connect a new set of lights, my phone did not recognize the bridge. I was trying over and over for two days. Then I saw this video and thought while I try this, I may have to turn off my VPN. Turns out that’s what it was, my VPN was blocking my phone from speaking to the bridge. Oops. I have it on almost always just by default so naturally I just forgot that it interferes with connections. Hope this helps anyone who might be making a silly mistake like i did.
