His name is Billy Brennan. He's a 9th dan black belt, a former world class competitor and a current world class referee. While it is quite obvious that prounouncing certain names are difficult for him, I personally think he is doing a great job. And as far as I'm concerned, karate seems to be a quite difficult sport to commentate on. There's a wide range of nationalities with different name pronounciations, the rules are rather complex, and especially in kumite there are lots of things happening at the same time, so focusing on commentating can be difficult at times. I don't think Billy has a specific background/education with commentating to give him certain set of skills for it, first and foremost he's a karateka and a judge, not a journalist/entertainer. I like him being a part of WKF live streams. But at the same time I think WKF could start looking for official play by play commentators, to help Billy out.
