i don't really understand why none of them are hitting the main point. Argentina were smashing them wave after wave, there was a real chance of getting hit 3 - 0, and the main culprits were Mbappe and Dembele. Mbappe because he takes Zero(0) defensive responsibility and Argentina were taking advantage of that and overloading France's left, with Messi also dropping in there, causing Tchouameni to shift in to cover, and Rabiot and essentially most of the team to shift towards that side in response, leaving Di Maria free on the left, and Messi and the Argentine midfielders were switching it to him quickly, leaving him to take on Kounde 1v1, and Di Maria was destroying. Dembele was poor defensively and attacking. Deschamp made the 2 changes and moved Mbappe up top where he was no longer a defensive liability, allowing Thuram and Kolo Muani to track back. This sort of worked and stemmed the Argentine's onslaught and it wasn't until he made the Coman change, and moved for a hail mary 4 - 2 - 4 or 3 - 3 - 4 since Camavinga was playing LB defensively and midfield in attack, and they threw caution to the wind that Otamendi committed and Argentina crumbled. My point is, it was purely tactical rather than showing who is boss, or maybe it's better to see it was more tactical, than statement, and Giroud was just an unfortunate casualty of Mbappe's lack of defensive effort

He made a decision that Southgate would've been too scared to even consider. This is why France are allowed to be so good, they take risks. They do what's necessary to win the match, it didn't quite happen for them on Sunday but they got pretty damn close considering they were 2-0 down with 10-15 mins left.

Mbappe is great & everything but would look more so into his 40 European club performances goals & 36 International peformances & goals rather than what he's done in Ligue 1 over the last 7 seasons.
