Hey Scrap Hounds! It's nice to see you all back for another scrap session and if your new to the channel then I have a real treat for you! Today we are going to be scrapping down this circuit board from a furnace control box for it's precious metals and other scrap metal! It's very important to the environment to properly recycle these items so they don't wind up in our landfills or sent to other countries where it becomes a hazardous waste zone! By learning to scrap these items yourself is a great way to properly recycle them and you can make some extra money doing so! So let's get started on this circuit board for starters! hope you enjoy this tutorial video!

There is also silver contacts in the relays. Edit and the heavy copper plate from the relay is almost always copper plated steel.
Yeah those furnace boards are loaded with the small goodies! A small hand file and a neodymium magnet are a scrappers best friend I always say they’ll never let ya down!

I don’t know much about e waste but I got a computer tower I still gotta take a apart I usually just got the copper from the green boards and throw them away. Great video buddy!
That’s normally all I do is take any copper aluminum and brass but there is lots of neat stuff to learn with ewaste I find! I just can’t sell boards or anything here in Alberta Canada.

@@BushDogScrapper in Ont, the relays have silver in every single one, if you're lucky you can find vintage ones with gold contacts. The capacitors can go into dirty aluminum which is what I do, mossfets have trace amounts of gold ~ 0.003% but it adds up fast you get around 0.33gr per kilo.
@@jordankennedy3298 Here in Alberta we can’t really sell ewaste per say so I remove the stuff I can sell at the scrapyard! I do like to collect the other stuff off the boards as I hope maybe one day there will be a better market here for more of the ewaste ! CheeRs and thank you for enjoying the video!

sometimes you can pull the wires out of the white connectors, if the internal connector comes out with the wire, cut it off. Check for brass.

Yea some have different amounts I haven’t found to many of them but I like to save them gold balls there’s a ewaste group on Facebook that has a golden balls club 🤣👌🏻

Nice video, thanks for being so thorough with your scrap. I go after all the bits also. And yes, it is a bit tedious trying to film and work at the same time. There are gold bond wires in those three legged transistors also. Go back and look at the tips of the copper strips you pulled out of the relays. Believe I saw some buttons at the end. Those are usually high content silver. What did that board come out of? I have found 4 of those gold balls in my scrapping career and they came from two pole red switches that look similar to yours. I found mine in Jet Direct cards from old printers. I’ve subscribed :). Cheers.

It goes as dirty brass no matter the plastic ...no?
If there’s anything but brass it’s dirty brass yes!
Make easier on yourself and clip off the capacitors then use a heat gun to remove the rest. It’ll save mega time.
That does make it easier but I’m all about trying to use as little power as possible to keep profits up! Thank you for watching!

You could have sold the board as is as a low grade board for 3.00 a pound.
