All part of Nascar's Part monopoly making sure what teams are given the good parts and what teams will have part issues. Nascar knows with the entire world complaining about what they have done to nascar they needed to make it look like anyone can win even those who don't have big money like back in the good old day when guys like Alan Kulwicki did in his UNDERBIRD. Back before Nascar let the teams , car Manufactures and Drivers race. The more wrecked cars today the more nascar gets through their parts monopoly and making it easier for whoever they want to run well that week to do so.
@JUNKERS488 yeah, you're right. It's about NASCAR controlling outcomes and had nothing to do with the driver having 82 victories and 3 championships under his belt in Australian Supercars.
SVG races on tracks like this and in cars that aren't a long ways off from a stock car, almost every weekend. While it was his debut, the race was still his to lose.
As a Brit I was routing for Button after his adventures with Garage56 at LeMans, but I've watched SVG in Aussie Supercars for years and know how talented he is. Humble guy too, but a machine behind the wheel! Good to see some variety in Nascar now, circuits and drivers :)
Solid debut of street racing and a fine race/finish by the Kiwi. Thank goodness this was in the hands of the NBC crew. RIP that poor contractor that got electrocuted setting this race up.
@alonzoharris6329 Ambrose won in 2003 and 2004 in a Stone Brothers EA that was pretty much untouchable. You could have probably won the championship in that car. Ambrose never won Bathurst, Giz has won it twice.
I don’t understand how New Zealand, a small country, has such the outpour of racing talent, it is amazing. SVG, Bruce McLaren, Scott Dixon, Denny Hulme, Chris Amon, Brendon Hartley, Liam Lawson, Mike Thackwell and Mitch Evans.
@tristanellisgaming3095 Hartley did one year in F1 but don’t let that take away from his amazing career in Motorsport, you don’t win Le Mans 3 times by being some bum.
@tristanellisgaming3095Bruce McLaren was kiwi through and through. Dixon was born in Brisbane but grew up in NZ, hence being a kiwi. A simple Google would have told you this. Hartley has achieved amazing results too!
Watching from Australia! This type of nascar racing is sick! It will definitely bring more of an international audience, would be unreal to get some Americans over in the V8 supercars too!
Ty, We have been waiting for this as race fans. Was Epic we loved it , The weather, the different surfaces , Rain tires .. Great Job Dale jr loved your calling .
I was skeptical in the beginning but everything went well, congrats to the victor, having the city in the background was pretty spectacular as well....
Again, no wreck fest like all non-experts said it would be. One pileup, the rest were mostly cars stuck in the tires, because it was WET! Also, no one was shot, like all the nascar bigots said there would be. Great race too.
Well done Shane. I only really know about nascar from Days of thunder lol...i do follow V8 supercar racing. This is great for Nascar, bringing more interest from an international audience. Watching from Auckland
75 years of nascar better late then never, the series raced on every type of racing ground it's there, road course, oval & now street course it's such a series that not always happen in Motorsport, T6 was narrowly unforgiving barely in every single lap a car goes straight into that tyre wall, this track is the perfect example for street circuits, not only it's the premiere of Chicago it's the premiere of Jenson button & Van gisbergen in nascar, it's typical Chicago always rain but a mixed condition race of dry/wet was perfect for this premiere, van gisbergen makes debut in sensation he is the first to wins at Chicago and the first after 60 years to succeed on debut say welcome to mighty Dutch van gisbergen, this race has everything starting with chaos even though the champs can make similar mistakes but unlucky for ky bush, a traffic mayhem and harsh moments this premiere is for years the best premiere in nascar history 👏👏👏🥳🏆🤩❤️😎
Yeah, it happened before. But only in the very early years when there were a lot of first timers. Before today, the most recent time a driver won their debut race was 60 years ago!
The race summarised in the first few minutes. SVG was the only one with the wipers on in the rain. Guessing the US boys haven’t ever needed them 😂 Cool to see the cars moving under brakes too
Shane just reminded everybody of racing should be done. Clean and smooth, but aggressive. Just goes to show that you really don't need to wreck anyone in order to win.
Is it me or did the 91 seemed like it had way more power than the rest of the field? I guess fresher tires make that much difference. I mean to win in a car you’ve never been in and beat Larson, Elliot, bush, etc is an amazing achievement. Congrats. It took Ambrose who ran the cup series full time a while to win. And this guy did it first try. That’s incredible. It would be like if Jimmy Johnson won in his Indy car debut. Or if somehow Larson can win in his debut.
This current generation of NASCAR racecars is more like an Australian Supercar then ever before so it only makes sense that Shane would be suited to it right away, plus he got in some good solid practice leading up this race, practice doe's help sometimes...
It was beautiful watching a GT driver punch down on Cup drivers the way Cup drivers punch down on Xfinity and truck series drivers. I say bring in more Real drivers to show these Cup drivers their place.
I can hear Australians tryna claim him already, like they do with all our talent 😂 Aussie's be like "it was Australian racing, teams, cars and country that got him here" maate your dreamin.
Can I voice an unpopular opinion? SVG doesn’t win with double file restarts! Period. He got gifted with not having to worry about a car inside or outside on restarts
Hate these supercar-whackers taking away wins from these cup guys just trying to get their names out there. Should be a rule from preventing them from coming down to a lower series and dominating like that.
What did you think of van Gisbergen's victory?
Best road course race ever
Absolute Legend SVG so awesome to see go the Kiwis 😊❤ couldn't ask for a better result, just wish it was dry andnot raining, happy Days🇦🇺🇳🇿🇳🇿🤝🇺🇸😊😎👍✌
AWESOME!
Awesome
AMAZING!!!
Don't cut so early, the celebration is part of the highlights!
It’s fox
I think the same thing every single time... At least show him raise the trophy
THAT IS INSANE!! SHANE VAN GISBERGEN WON HIS FIRST RACE IN HIS DEBUT!!!
It be more impressive not on a road course tbh. It’s just another marcos Ambrose
@@treyreichert4428 No comparison

Great race. I really enjoyed watching how things played out. You just knew when 91 passed Justin Haley that the race was over. Congratulations!
Solid debut of street racing and a fine race/finish by the Kiwi. Thank goodness this was in the hands of the NBC crew. RIP that poor contractor that got electrocuted setting this race up.
Whoa what
“Shane Van-Gisen-Ber-Gen” 🤣🤣🤣
I think they better stick to calling him SVG until they can figure out how to pronounce his name.
@@Mel-jh3sz They could use GIzzy.
Good way to get Australia and New Zealand to watch this racing!
shane van gisbergen really letting out his inner marcos ambrose dog for this race
Fr
No shane letting out the shane, dont compare this bloke he one of a kind
Svg is 10 times the driver ambrose was
@@krisgodfreyHe really is. Ambrose was average at best in Australia and the US. Giz is a champion.
@alonzoharris6329 Ambrose won in 2003 and 2004 in a Stone Brothers EA that was pretty much untouchable. You could have probably won the championship in that car. Ambrose never won Bathurst, Giz has won it twice.
I really enjoyed watching this race. Great job putting this together, NASCAR. I hope this will become an annual event.
I would enjoy the Chicagoans tears every year because of the race. They really didn’t want it to happen
Just shows to go how good Super Cars actually is, although we all kind of knew but this just confirms it’s absolutely world class. So good!
Absolutely fantastic results SVG, absolute Legend 😊 Go the Kiwis❤👊, watching from Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇳🇿🇳🇿🤝🇺🇸🇺🇸😎👍✌

You said it mate. I’d love to see someone like Kyle Larson here in the Supercars Championship
7:36 someone in the production trailer had a finger over the button for this song all day
And they deployed it at exactly the right time
I love the radio style commentating makes the race more exciting
Great to see Shane’s talents showcased to the world
Tyler and Bell worked so hard this race and its a shame they didnt end up in the top 5. Big congrats to SVG though he definitely earned it today.
I don't know why but those cars sliding into tire barriers look funny.
never imagined I'd ever see NASCAR race in in the rain 🌧
Ty, We have been waiting for this as race fans. Was Epic we loved it , The weather, the different surfaces , Rain tires .. Great Job Dale jr loved your calling .
The only Car really passing anyone was SVG. Shows how talented he is!! Awesome Win. Congrats!
This is what happens when you know how to turn right
Yet cup regulars have won EVERY road course race until today
van Gisbergen is such a great driver ! Not only Supercar, Rally but now NASCAR ! Amazing
What can I say SVG is a man that can drive anything The man is a monster well done mate 🇦🇺🇳🇿🤙
Thanks to the highlight video it saved hours of time.
Congrats to Shane for winning his first race (and not burying it in turn 6 :-P )!!!
I love how 90% of this highlights video is crashes, only 10% is passing for the lead or actual racing. Really highlights the quality of this race.
Everyone else here is commenting they enjoyed the race and thought it was really good
La vache le gars est vraiment doué 😎😜 chapeau bas Shane, superbe victoire !

They washed the blood off the streets before the race.
Go the Gis ! Kwis can fly !!
5:43...a normal morning commute in Chicago 😀
NASCAR with rain lights?! I love it!
well this race has won me over. congrats shane. unreal win.
What if they put a Daytona street course together? This opens up some serious opportunities for street tracks in Nascars future
What a legend already, GG shane
2:32-3:11-4:29 Trouble turn 6!!
Gotta show them cowboys how to turn right 🤙
Another lame right turn comment. 😪
SVG not only dominates Australian supercars but now NASCAR too. Loved seeing NASCAR on a street circuit and in wet conditions too
Again, no wreck fest like all non-experts said it would be.

Great work work from the Giz
Busman's holiday for SVG, he did this every week down under!
This is probably the first time in NASCAR that a driver in their debut in Cup won a race, awesome. Congrats to Van Gisbergerg.
It’s been done six(?) times before this, but the most recent before this was in 1963.

@ACougarSwagnum That's an unsophisticated, poorly educated, troll comment.

Always said that the Yanks can only race in a straight line or turning left and SVG has just proved this theory right.
Toyotas this race📈📉
does anyone know, how expensive this street course is ?
Lol not surprised. Shane in a street course. It was inevitable

There were lots of people there...
Can I voice an unpopular opinion? SVG doesn’t win with double file restarts! Period. He got gifted with not having to worry about a car inside or outside on restarts
Not really insane he raced super v8 cars in Australia and they race on Street courses quite a bit.
Turn 6 is brought to you by the Wendy's Baconator!
More of this type of street racing.
Possibly the worst start your engines I’ve ever heard. But I’d expect nothing less from a guy who plays for the Chicago Bears and played at Ohio State
So if shane wins another race he be thru to the playoffs?
Shaayyne Van Gisenburgen 🤣
Dang I really thought Dinger would have a top 3 here.
Anyone but Kyle Busch
Can this track be a race for Indycar 2024 as well?

Talk about a new full time driver perhaps.
SVG is a great circuit racer but Nascar is all about ovals will be interesting to see how he goes on a super speedway and a very different discipline
Justin Fields, just saying the words......

So far, i'm not impressed with NBC coverage.
you don’t have to watch; i’ll take NBC over the lifeless FOX broadcast. Mike Joy isnt what he used to be, and Bowyer is a total hack.
