Funny how Lebron says he doesn’t get involved in coaching decisions.
When they got frank Vogel every was talking about how it’s good that Lebron supported him during the press conferences
When they got ham , he supported them.
The one coach Lebron openly wanted Ty lue and the lakers didn’t offer him a contract but yet some how Lebron is to blame for coaches getting hired and fired

The Lakers didn’t fumbled the bag with Hurley, he just said no. He was content where he is. UConn is one of NCAA basketball powerhouses, and proving that he the right hire since he won them a Chip just last year and has a chance to win back to back titles. That’s the coach UConn needs, and wants as a program, and Hurley didn’t want to leave, he wanted to stay. And I can just say that Hurley made the right decision in refusing the Lakers offer, he is in a good position where he can be successful. And UConn as a program has more championships then LeBron, more then Kobe, now maybe tie with MJ.

The biggest thing with Hurley is he just signed a 6 year $32ish million contract with UCONN in 2023 and all the endorsements as well. To trade that for a job in which you have a depleted roster, no assets, and aging stars in a city that expects you to win a chip immediately would make no sense.

I knew Hurley was gonna decline that job, money be damned. David Blatt was a very respected coach in Europe and look what happened with him after a year and a half with LeBron. And college is MUCH more laid back. Not to mention tax wise, Connecticut or California?

If you’re team is trash then you’ll be watching from the couch too. (Saying this as a panthers fan, our pro bowlers have significantly shrunk.)

The Lakers are historically known for underpaying their head-coaches, which is why Ty Lue isn't there right now &why other elite coaches always pass on the job. As a non-Lakers supporter it was fun watching the city get its hopes up &watching the Lakers fall on their face at the finish line is so satisfying. However I gotta ask why did all of you guys think this time would be different?

It wasn’t just Hurley’s call. His wife and family have a lot of say in where he coaches, and they love being close to New Jersey and family. Remember……he also said no to what’s considered a crown jewel of college ball at Kentucky. Cash doesn’t move him. And as a personal opinion, I don’t think it takes a brain surgeon to see that coaching LeFlop is a thankless job. He pretty much runs the team whether you’re a good coach or not. And uses the HC as a scapegoat when his plans fail. The only reason Eric Spolestra never got fired was, because Pat Riley was the only one man enough to put LeBum in his place as a player. I don’t see the Lakers being the Lakers again until the James era is over. Once he’s gone, AD will stop acting like a Prima donna without LBJ as a shield.

I think coaches should have similar contracts to player in terms of length & a percentage of a maximum (10% of the salary cap) based upon achievements.
It would be interesting to know what teams spend on coaching & medical staff & how that correlates to the win/loss results.

We couldn't get Dan Hurley? Yeah we're done for the next several years. At this point just run into the ground and let LeBron be the coach until he leaves which will be in the next three seasons including this one. The front office is a mess. Rob pelinka, to the world now, looks incompetent and can't close deals. I also bet that in Hurley's decision was also based around the clutch Sports situation. Also coaching is a fraternity. You don't think Hurley talk to past coaches for the Lakers? No stability in the organization. He probably felt like it was up to him to turn it around and also looked on history that even if I get that guarantee it most likely won't be executed. I can go on. Ask questions if you like cuz I can go on for days about this. This is apropos for a uncouth organization. Just disgusted😂😂😂

“get to coach LBJ and AD" is a very overrated statement. LBJ and AD are already at the stage of their careers, they don't need coaching, coach to them is just someone setting up plays. And also given LBJ's track record, a college coach will definately not going to get along with him. If Dan wanted a real shot at NBA coaching, he will probably pick a team that has potential for him to pick and develop his own team, or a young team with good talent.
