So I bought the 7.5 joule version, with an 11 joule valve, and a power kit. After stripping the aluminum firing pin, I finally was able to get it out and make the change. In my haste, some pieces came dislodged. If it wasn’t for your easy to follow step by step instructions, I’d have a paper weight. Thanks man!

I know this is a old video but I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU!! I did a power upgrade on my TR50 and didn't want to take the shortcuts of the disassembly knowing that I would have springs everywhere. Followed the detailed and well explained instructions and everything went perfectly. Thanks again!!

    I got the TR50 7.5 Joule version.
Then I went to HomeDefence-24 and got the HDR50 7.5 Joule version
valve upgrade kit that made it 3 times more powerful.
The pressure chamber in the 11 Joule version is smaller so not as powerful as the 7.5 Joule version
With the Valve kit and remove the valve (throttle in the pressure chamber)
Increases the performance to over 20 joules!

I think the result of the change-over should have been part of this video. Simple before and after results of impact, velocity and overall hitting power demonstration really should’ve been shone here.

  • @shoeoffhead3692

Impressive video. Could you extend the explanation of the internals. Especially how the gun actually shoots. What is different once it is under pressure. What exactly are the sequence of events when you pull the trigger, rotate the mag, push out the firing pin, actually fire and the retraction of the firing pin. It would be REALLY interesting and helpful to do a fully cycle explain video on the HDR50.

Instead of using a metal flat screwdriver to separate the halves of the pistol. You might want to start out using guitar picks. Guitar picks are made of a heavy plastic very thin very strong. Great way to start separating the two halves without scratching or marring plastic or painted surfaces

Leave springs, triggers and things in place (with left hand). Put in the bits and pieces from HD-24. For 25 ish joules. 8.3g chrome steel balls. Will need a sandpaper cigar to lightly sand out the chambers (not much) just snugg. Be careful now, you have something different.

I screwed my TR50 up. I ordered the 11 joule valve and removed the block. I had an issue with a spring but got it back in place. When I fire the gun, the co2 dumps completely 1st shot and seems to jam. Could I have a trigger mechanism issue or can I not operate the gun without the valve block? I realize the heavy CO2 usage and I’m fine with that. I have my HDP 50 set up like this and I get 5 hard shots. That is enough for a self defense situation. Any advice is appreciated.

I just got a TR50 but haven’t fired it yet. The shots are very difficult to push into the clip.
Yes, I’m pushing them into the clip from the downstream / barrel side, other side is impossible.
I have .50 yellow pvc shot AND .50 cal steel bearing type shot, but neither push in very easily.
I have two other Umarex guns (HDS68, HDP68) that have much looser tolerances and easier to load.

I did this upgrade which I purchased from directly from ANSgear Paintball and after installation I inserted a new umarex co2 cartridge and fired a few rounds and put the gun away. several days later I went to fire the gun and all the co2 was empty! Before i did the 11 joule valve upgrade i would leave my gun fully charged with a new co2 punctured and ready to fire for weeks at a time and go to fire it and not a drop of co2 leaked at all. So someone please tell me why I'm now leaking c02 after valve upgrade. Called ANSgear and they told me to call umarex USA because he's never heard of someone leaving a punctured co2 in the gun for long periods of time and not leak. What am I suppose to wait for an incident to arise and need my gun then have to insert new co2 and wait to pucture it so I can fire a round or 2 and then have all the co2 leak out!????
