- Sautso is the beat furthest up on the mighty Alta river in northern Norway - the best big fish river in the world. Follow into Europe’s deepest canyon, discover the classic pools where more 50 and 60 lbs salmon have been caught than anywhere else in the world. During these magical days the first Pahtakorva TTT was baptized, after giving Mikael two great 35+ lbs Atlantic salmon!

As if these fish haven’t got enough to contend with? Whilst fishing for trout last year in my local stream in Lancashire I caught three smolts in a river where Salmon have never been(not since industrial weirs) how they could have survived the huge floods this winter is anyone’s guess?
You'd be surprised by how amazing to the smolts can hide it's with ease to hide behind a stone!
Great videos Mikael, always fun too see you fight those "whales". Any thoughts on leader length when fishing those deep pools early in the season?
the longer from the fish -the longer leader.. its a big subjekt impossible to answer here. maybe one day we do a film on just that subject. Cheers!

Wherever there is any kind of a fall in the river, they can split the river up in two and harvest electricity in the one, same time as there is a free flowing river in the other half.
- Sure, they will not get as much electricity as what they would if they build a dam, however, they can make several such half-river turbines, and thát way have both all the electricity that they need, AND an amazing (and tourism inducing) salmon fishery....
In Alta the best is to take the dam down!
@@frodinflies All dams have to go, they are exactly not necessary, as electricity can be harvested like mentioned, with very little harm done to the environment....
But sure, some rivers, many in fact, should be left untouched, and where electricity is harvested, thát should not be done in places of great beauty....

I tried searching but it was hard to find any plans they are called forsbåt or älvbåt in Swedish and elvebåt in Norwegian, elvebåt is your best bet on google
