    this should be called the Mega Man DOS Remake Remake

    Glad to see feedback so far is better then the original. I'm watching along and taking notes of the stuff to fix once this series is over. For the audio; I admit to being massively inept at it. Hence the general weirdness that comes with the sound volume, and being a one man team. Why there aren't any original tracks. Sorry for the screen transition bug encountered earlier along as well. If you've got any specific things you want tweaked poke me here. I really wish to try and make the next version one of the last (baring new bugs I inadvertently make.) Specifically if you've got any ideas for sonic reflector as it didn't receive too much of an update from 1.0. I'll see what I can do about the audio, but as said. It seems to either end up too quiet or too loud, with tracks varying in between.

    Interesting that it's called a remake even though it has almost none of the elements (the enemies, stage hazards, etc.) of the original game. Instead it's full of stolen assets from the NES/NES-style Mega Man games.

    Well the first dos game had an intro stage that was... let's just say gag inducing so i guess it's nice on the creator to put one in. at least you didn't get to go trough copy protection by paying the toll at the start of the game XD

    Well, this is definitely better than it used to be. It still needs some improvement, but it's good to see that the creator of the game is making an honest effort to improve it.

    Why was the Bit Man so much more interesting than the other bosses? It was like someone else programmed him.

    I had actually played this before, and the Bit Man fight really blew me away. Can't say the rest did, while it was certainly better, there were still a few little annoyances I felt should've been patched by the time this version was out.

    Aw, Volt Buckler isn't an insane game breaker anymore! Eh, I suppose that's probably a good thing, I abused the hell out of that in my playthrough! It's cool to see an update, I'll have to give it a try as well!

  • @KnightOfNostalgia
    @KnightOfNostalgia 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thing is, even if someone tried to remake the DOS version of Megaman while keeping true to the original content, it wouldn't make a good game because the DOS version was a fucking nightmare. This is just an entirely different game to the DOS version. More like what would happen if capcom made an extra megaman in the old series. Good game anyways :D

    I'm not sure I'm getting the stage changes thing. Does beating the previous boss in the cycle open up a side/alternative route, or does it change the main stage? Does this change also block off the old route?

    • @Neo-Shinryu
      @Neo-Shinryu 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the change does block off the old route. As mentioned in the video, the cycle is clockwise around the entire stage select. So if you beat Torch Man, then the secondary route in Oil Man's stage is activated (along with some of Torch Man's gimmicks appearing in said route).

    • @discendovox
      @discendovox 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Shinryu Thank you for the clarification. Given that the extra boss/letter are in the alternate route, it's a bit odd to block the original route off. Well, I look forward to seeing how this has improved- beyond the mechanics, the massive reduction in enemy density is already a great sign.

    I only downloaded this to check if these sound problems could be fixed or not, but not really... Not that it matters that much now, does it? Opened some songs and some are kinda loud too, compared to others. Then I started the game. No music, great. >_<
    The level editor in this game is awesome, huh. I really like that.

  • @tikhiyzakhar
    @tikhiyzakhar 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ah, yes, I know such problem of the game. I don't know what exactly happening to the music and sound effects but the creator tries to make this remake "very best".
    By the way, update is pretty good.

  • @fawkesthefox912

    I still think it could be better. It should have custom stage designs and stage themes that aren't pulled from other Robot Masters. Maybe more unique enemies (based on those found in the original DOS game, but improved in more ways than one), an improved intro stage and boss (an actual robot DOG instead of the simple Tiger enemy from Napalm Man's stage), and much, MUCH more.

  • @Cephalopod51

    As an almost fan of the original DOS Mega Man (the first, not the "third"), I appreciate what this remake is trying to do, but I feel like it was a missed opportunity. For me, Mega Man DOS was more like the Apogee platformer games rather than like the NES Mega Man games, and yet it was kind of neat introduction to Mega Man... Except the controls were awkward, it lacked a save feature, the enemies could be frustrating , and it can play too fast on DOSbox. Interestingly, Duke Nukem 1 stole some textures from Mega Man DOS, which explains the Apogee similarity. I kind of like how Mega Man DOS was anchored in the mundane, and implemented level design slightly similar to Duke Nukem and BioMenace. If I were to remake Mega Man DOS, I think it should retain the graphical style and general level layout, but enlarge the resolution, reconfigure the controls, add crouching, add a save feature, and improve the enemy behavior. It could serve as a base for a more ambitious modification of Mega Man DOS's gameplay... but that's only my poor opinion.

    @endlessedgar4576 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Couldn´t the autor of this game at least make the desing of the platforms, background, etc. look based on the DOS game(s)? It looks nothing like it. I know the layout is not appropriate to remake but at least the graphics should resemble the original :P

  • @IzludeTingel
    @IzludeTingel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's definitely a nice attempt, I like it, but nothing will replace the original (love it or hate it, i actually really liked those games). They were angry video game nerd material for sure, I remember rage quitting on volt man's stage plenty of times as a kid. I actually recall playing the DOS game more than the NES games because it was just better replay value... plus visually, if you had an RGB monitor back then (I had a 286 system with an RGB screen) the scan lines made these games look epic. Some out there still appreciate these games. Good show though!
