Having traveled the country from coast to coast I've seen and done a lot of stuff, camping and kayaking in upstate New York. spelunking in the Ozarks, deep sea diving in the gulf of Mexico, rock climbing in Arizona and Nevada, gold mining in California. But for all of this the most terrified I have ever been was when I got a flat tire in the middle of the night, on an old country road in central Illinois. it was early August and the corn was still up. There was barely a sliver of moon and nothing but miles of cornfield on either side of the road. Fastest tire change ever, I even left the jack and flat there on the road because I just wanted to get out of there.

Gah, I grew up on a farm...I think they may just be contractually creepy. 🙄 Now I live on the outskirts of (my very tiny rural) town, & my largeish property has this big old barn on it that probably out creeps all but one of the barns I grew up with...honestly, I just locked anything that could be locked & left it for the wildlife to hang out in. At least I don't have any crops nearby anymore! 😥 Don't get me wrong, I do love the country...but I remember being utterly incapable of walking into a fully matured field of tobacco, on multiple occasions. That shit is downright menacing. I can only give thanks that we never grew corn!

Hi, I read an article about a couple that bought a farm and found a cache of firearm's buried in the ground. I live in MI and my husband moved a shed from up the street to what was our home at the time. My work partner went up into the loft to look at it and he saw something in the right corner behind some boards he went in to investigate and came down with a 22 Rifle it was a old gun ( I assume) the sight's on it was a round ring. Personally I've never seen one like it that's why I made the assumption of it being quite old. The shed belonged to my ex Father in-law and he had it for many year's. Idk what became of it that was over 20 year's ago. I'm guessing there is a possibility it was used in either poaching or a crime of some kind for it to have been hidden, cz all he saw from where he was at was about two inches of the barrel. Honestly, farm stories are the best. If you ever played Resident Evil 4, the first part of the game you're in that eerie Spanish village. It gave a new perspective on living out on a rural landscape. I live in Iowa. Fall time it is the most spookiest time. The bare trees, the empty fields, kinda reminds me of Haddonfield, Ill ;) You be surprised the random haunted farms I've encountered. It surprised myself! These old farmsteads and hollers have their own dead men tell no tales stories of thier own. Keep up the great stories, Darkness!

A Pooka isn't malevolent in my experience. I saw one and it was beautiful. I swear on my life, it happened and it was a treasured memory for me. Mine presented itself as a black and grey fox with golden eyes. It stared at me next to a waterfall, and all I could do was say "you're beautiful". Next thing I know, it ran towards me and jumped into a small waterfall coming from the cliff face and disappeared completely. But there are no foxes at all where I live. This was when I was walking along a cliff next to the sea. If you don't ask anything of it, and show it no malice, they won't hurt you. But I will forever remember my encounter with a Pooka. It was absolutely beautiful and it felt safe. But the eyes were indescribable. They weren't like a normal fox. I first thought it was someone lying on the ground that needed help, as it looked like a man's legs with trousers and boots in the grass. But it jumped up and changed into a fox when I approached. I have never seen anything like it.
