@@Mana_Sun Think of it as a program. The first suggestion/program was the hoodie and once that was complete the second suggestion/program was the alien language.

He was hearing what his friends were saying ofc. But his mind processes those words as mean and offensive words.
We see this everyday in normal life... look at the phrase "all lives matter". Just words to convey peace, love and respect for all. But a certain percent of the population have been brainwashed/hypnotized into perceiving those words as evil hateful racism. It doesn't change the words you hear, but changes the way your brain processes them and effects your emotional state.

Alex wasn’t supposed to understand his friends but when he was putting his hoodie inside out he understood them then suddenly he didn’t 🤔
I thought they same thing at first but if you listen closely he tells him that basically the first thing he will notice is that his jacket is inside out then when he “fixed” it correctly he made that clicking sound with his tongue and that’s when he started hearing alien noises/ sounds. Does that make sense?

Generally, most people feel like they've woken up after being hypnotized. So they more feel refreshed than tired.
@@tiffanyoram1717 If you were unable to be hypnotized, you'd be unable to sleep at all. That state right before falling asleep is what he guides you to/induces. For some more profound, for some less. It's nothing magical or mythical either. If you can imagine getting as relaxed as possible AND feel that in your body, happening, that is already (self-) hypnosis. So no worries, everyone can be hypnotized, unless you have trouble following suggestions or specific mental illnesses (which make it harder because certain parts of the brain don't operate properly at all times). So being able to not get hypnotized is kind of bad and not what people think of it to be. But you can, so no worries ;) And it's nothing universal also. Some people require different techniques sometimes and some might never get that deep without physical inductions. If you can imagine how it's like to fall asleep, though, that brink and let yourself get extremely relaxed, trying to blank your mind, you might get something out of his videos, even if it's just the first one. And if the eye part doesn't work, imagine or pretend it does work and go along. You might surprise yourself later on ;) It can be a skill to learn for some also. Fun fact: driving somewhere (automatically) is usually in trance also. Maybe search up "Highway Hypnosis" for more info ;) It's actually pretty common and how our brain manages to watch out for all the stuff while driving (without getting overwhelmed). And last but not least, the brain does just go to the state that's most comparable with sleep (so, deep relaxation). I explained more in another comment here also.
Some people do, I've heard, anyway, Hypnosis is like he usually says, not a "real" sleep.

Well it's actually very simple, he creates a shock and puts them in a trance, meaning they are focused on his voice to the point at which they stop questioning reality.

@@KamilBuffenmyer It's not that simple (luckily). And there's more to it. But let's say it works for the same reason we don't question the reality of our dreams or how stuff works in them. And that's just one part on why it works. The brain also creates a dissonance between one's actions and thinking to do something and some of our actions are already
automatic, like brushing our teeth, maybe putting butter on a bread or using forks and knife and more. Or if you can type automatically/without looking. The state itself is also naturally and the one we are in right before falling asleep (between wakefulness and sleep, basically) or when someone drove somewhere in a car or train or bus and sudenly realizes they have already arrived. Or when you listen to music and the song is already over. Or how time flies when you are occupied. All those things are examples of hypnosis ;) So it's not as mystical as people think, BUT there is a lot to it to learn it properly (let alone safety precautions). So yeah :)

Very likely he would have. Allergies can actually be cured through Hypnosis but also triggered. I actually wondered why Zach didn't take the time to cure him of the allergies then, but he's putting on a show so perhaps that's why he didn't bother.
Yeah, it can happen, I think they are called psychosomatic symptoms.
Just for my benefit as a student of hypnotism: I find it interesting that you often do "instant hypnosis" on your subjects and then go right into some advanced phenomena without any apparent deepening. Is that only when you have someone who has been hypnotized before? It's amazing that you can get such dramatic results in street hypnosis so quickly. Love your videos.

Is it possible to somehow test for muscular exertion when they try to lift up the chair which they've been told they can't lift? Maybe hook up electrodes to their body to see how much strength they are using to try to lift it? I'm interested in the philosophical implications of hypnosis and the mind's ability to control reality.

Yeah it can, like for motivation and some other stuff like paying attention and such, it can also work for stress.

I would think the hypnotists answer to Alex's question about if anyone could hypnotize him, would be no, that they only could if they knew what they were doing, PLUS if he trusted them and followed their orders, basically I would say that it could only happen if you LET it happen. Like one of them said sleep, and he knew he wanted to resist that, then he can.

Hypnosis can certainly do that. In fact, we all do it all the time without hypnosis. The way we act talking to Grandma, dealing with a boss/teacher, how we act with our best friends, how we act on vacation are very different than our daily. We can imagine we are any way we want to be. Which is a form of hypnosis anyway..
Maybe, I mean sometimes people dream that, the problem is that different people have different types of imagination, for example you could someone that there's a dragon out there, some people may be able to see it, others would even wake up, as there is no such thing as dragons, or would see a comodo.

he's the most professional hypnosist I've seen in my life. On his recent video, i feel so heavy and relaxed like, the gravity keeps pulling me down. The relaxation I had, I feel so relaxed and I was like I'm on a dream but I hear and touch it.

I know right? me too. I don't think his friends truly understood how much they were making him feel stressed when they were validating him too much with compliments. And then it was horrible to see nobody knew how to comfort him and show him that that they care and felt sorry about hurting his feelings. I hope he gets more help and support from what ever he was going through. I'm been where he is, feeling like that. It's so not fun. It seemed like when he said "why are you all ganging up on me,STOP!!! I'm trying to do my best here'' he internalize a lot of that and felt as though everyone and him had waaay too many expectations or opinions about him. :( *heartbreaking*. I wish they would've took more time to know what's hurt him in the past.

I'm surprised (seemingly) nobody commented on this yet:
Normally I really enjoy the creativity in suggestions here, but was making your friends sound mean (18:05), leading to the subject _literally crying_ (!), really necessary to show on camera or even _suggest in the first place?_
The drill sergeant part before that (16:23) was ok because Alex' friends knew what was going on, but Alex in this part didn't (consciously).
I of course assume that permission was given by Alex to show this part, too, but still think it would have been better to leave it out or at least put some kind of explanation / disclaimer after it.
Hypnosis should imo be used to do funny things or help _ease_ trauma, not more or less _create new one._ This could lead to people getting a wrong idea and being discouraged from letting themselves go or even trying hypnosis at all for themselves, in the fear of something like this happening.
This is also especially jarring given that in contrast, in the hypnosis through the screen playlist there is always some overtly life-positive suggestion at the end.

This is not meant as hate, but as genuine, constructive criticism by someone with a long-time interest in hypnosis himself.
I have watched some other videos here and enjoyed the creativity and also the explanations. My favorite one is probably the last Sway House one, where the hypnosis is not working as well with three subjects and Zach uses this to explain in detail how hypnosis works and what it can and especially can't do.

I couldn't hear him very well but I think the idea was after he fixed his sweatshirt, then he wouldn't understand them. Before fixing the sweatshirt he could understand what they were saying to him.
maybe he wasnt focusing while he hallucinating , thats why it doesnt work at first . Zach actually make sounds with his mouth later before alex throw the sweatshirt then he doesnt understand
