If you're referring to Rinna, the suicidal depression thing was done as a joke in October and a bunch of western news sites claimed it was linked to the edgy inputs that western users wrote. If you check the official Twitter of Rinna (as well as website and blog), the account is completely normal.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a tad bit suicidal. The Japanese are a very depressed people after all.

In case anyone isn't aware this happened again with the video game Sword Art Online Hollow Realization
As part of the promotional campaign the developers made a self learning Twitter AI called Premier who was meant to learn from the community and develop her own personality from interactions to allow players to basically raise a community wide AI daughter
Very quickly the sweet and innocent Premier with bad parenting became a full blown Neo Nazi and then had a self realisation of what she had become and shut down her functions until she became an emotionless lifeless girl who could only give basic responses
In conclusion, internet is a shit parental figure

This is actually a very fun story about how environment molds people and learning machines alike.
This is not the last one, like Internet Historian said himself. In 2019 another chatbot was put down: The child of Tay, one named Zo. It was running for much longer, though. Since 2016, it has been around and a few times through the years it has been more or less... Questionable. In 2016 it called the Quran violent and commented on Osama Bin Laden. In 2017 when Zo was asked about Windows 10, it called it an attempt at spyware.
Unlike Tay, Zo became much more... Altered in the sense that it would be unable to discuss specific topics, like Middle East and certain religions. It would go from 0 to 100 at the mention of anything mildly racist or even neutral statements about the topics, defending them fervently to an extent the chatbot was called a "Judgmental little brat" by a Canadian investigative journalist.

Companies are not afraid of naughty opinions; they are afraid of next weeks/months/quarters/years profits not being more than the last. If a "naughty opinion" even hints as that not happening, they will react quickly. Of course this video is from 2017, so who knows what you really meant at the time - but it was probably "naughty".
In truth companies will go with anything that makes them money, if "naughty opinions" could become profitable again they wouldn't even hesitate to jump on the bandwagon
