I can’t stop crying listening to this song. I lost my mom over 7 months ago and just the instrumental mixed with her hauntingly beautiful voice put me in the space where all I can feel is this bittersweet longing to see my mother again. I’ve found meaning in some of the lyrics, as well. So many men have done my mom wrong, giving her only a rose, never the garden that she deserved. I wanted to give her that garden myself just to see her happy, but now it’s too late and it just shatters me everytime I think about it.
Lyrically it's based on Evelyn Waugh's 'The Loved One' , if that's not already known. I gathered she's extremely well read , but that Waugh book is almost hardcore compared to Brideshead!!!
No hate, but usually while I fall in love with Nicole's songs immediately, this one feels a bit...meh? I mean I still like it and am repeating it and the lyrics/beat are good, I'm just finding it hard to fall for it like her other songs. Not sure why, can't pinpoint a reason. Maybe it'll grow on me. that's fine!! it seems to me like she's changed up her sound and while i prefer her older stuff, i still like it. but no worries !! loving an artist doesn't mean you have to love everything they put out. i also really love that part as well!
I agree!! This kinda has a countryish (??) Sound to it and I do not like country at all but I'm really glad that shes releasing new stuff and I can appreciate the lyrics from this song so much ☆o☆
