it was wrong that he didn’t tell her he was bringing his brother with him for a DATE. I mean it would not be pleasant to have someone third wheeling while you are on a date with someone special to you. But that is NOT an excuse for her behavior. She was very rude in general not just “mad” that someone was tagging along. The way she looked at him just gives it all away. Brayden is a disabled guy and Karter can’t simply just leave him there as his MAIN caregiver. And some people just don’t cope well with a sitter even if he could hire one. We don’t know the whole situation there so we shouldn’t assume. I agree that Karter was wrong for not letting her know earlier that he was bringing his brother along on the date, but i’d rather side with Karter and Brayden in this one than Gwen cuz her attitude and behavior just disgusts me. She wasn’t just mad, she clearly did not like him.

Understand where she's coming from completely. Even though she didn't treat the situation the best way it's extremely weird to have a brother tag along for a date. Especially when she isn't told in advance. She had every right to leave and break up.

Yes, she was wrong for how she treated boyfriend's brother, but he was wrong for dating when he cannot have some exclusive time with her and did not let her know ahead of time he cannot go without his brother.

@@wendydoe573 I agree. I felt like this video was trying to paint her as THE villain. But he was wrong for not being upfront about Brayden in the beginning. It was like, "SURPRISE". Brayden, I felt, was just an innocent bystander in the situation. Gwen should have taken Karter privately and told him in a nicer way how she felt. But Karter should have told her before the date that he had a disabled brother that lives with him. Brayden seemed like he was efficient enough to stay home for a few hours by himself. But if Karter still didn't feel comfortable with that, he could have asked a friend or neighbor to stop by and keep an eye on him while he and Gwen went on their date.

To be honest, although she was in the wrong, I’m kind of with Gwen as not only did Karter bring his brother without telling her, but brayden shaking the table was clearly bothering her and Karter didn’t do anything to try to get him to stop. I get that he can’t control being anxious but you need to be firm when you need to.

To be honest I don't like when people think just because someone has a disability meaning they weird but to be honest they just different in their own way like everyone else is different in their own way and to be honest we should treat everyone equally no matter the religion or nationality or disability

I have a disability myself and personally it bums me out. In one of my old jobs I got treated unfairly and was reported just because of it, which has made it hard to accept for who I am just because I have a disability. One thing I can't stand about having a disability is being treated like a misfit towards other normal people!

I don't think that down syndrome is a disability. I have an uncle with down syndrome and he's perfectly capable like anyone else. He only has some trouble speaking, but not enough to make a conversation impossible.

Well, the guy should have told his girlfriend beforehand: "My brother is coming with us. I really want you guys to get to know each other! But we can have one-on-one date next week. I will get someone to take care of my brother for a few hours.". It is also good way to show to your girlfriend/ boyfriend/ wife/ husband: "Okay, listen! I have to take care of my disabled family member, but I will make sure that the two of us also get some one-on-one time.". At least, that is what I would do if I was in the boyfriends place.
But the girlfriend was really rude to her boyfriends brother. That totaly sucks. If my potential spouse was rude to my siblings (disabled or non-disabled), I would totaly dumb them.
My little sister called gracie mae has downs syndrome and ADHD so I'm literally in tears right now because it's so sweet to watch this and people with downs syndrome often have to live with a sibling when they get older and its so sad the way she treated him and the end made me brake down because its so cute to see him on a date and being so nice to her 😢😢❤❤❤
My little brother has down syndrome so it hits extra hard to see other people treat others with down syndrome so poorly makes me want to hug them and tell them it's going to be alright.

A few months ago I brought him to my boyfriend's place because my parents weren't home and he wanted to go along. My bf treats him like family. I can tell u sometimes it's nerve wracking to date someone because u don't know whether they'll accept ur sibling

While the girl was wrong for how she acted towards her boyfriend's brother, he was wrong as well. If he cannot find a sitter for his brother, and must constantly have him around, then accept he cannot have a dating life. Just like, many single moms accept they cannot have a dating life because they are busy with work and their young kids who cannot watch themselves.
This was a good one and I’m glad his brother got a date with Kennedy Gracia too. She’s one of your best actresses! A very well written story.
From being in a relationship unwilling to have understanding towards struggles to being with someone who loves and accepts the significant others family regardless of disability without being asked to, is just proof that that person has a heart big enough to fill any cracks.

I have autism and growing up I was placed in these girls groups with other disabled peers amd tbh I was so young and immature and being seen in public with these kids made me feel just like this girl is some ppl grow our of it and some people dont but sometimes having a disability can be a total blessing amd not a burden ❤

This is due to the neurological, psychological, and social impacts it can have on one’s life. Not to mention since when were you the one to say whats a blessing or not?

With that said if I was with someone who brought along his brother on our date unannounced and didn't tell me upfront that I would be expected to live with his brother, I would end that relationship

Tbh on the first meet her behavior was justified. I mean a date is a male and female it would be weird to have another person. And he told her friend that she was going on a date with him ,which again anger is justified. Brayden also was making a scene in restraunt. So you cant really blame the girl. She wanted a good experience with her boyfriend and not his brother

For the people saying that he shouldn’t have brought his brother completely missed the fact that he’s also his CAREGIVER. People with down syndrome NEED a caregiver. If my boyfriend/girlfriend brought a family member, let alone a disabled one, unannounced, I would be mildly upset in the beginning, but I wouldn’t take it out on them and I would actually be appreciative that my partner would trust me enough to allow his family members to be around me. I would just accept it and be happy, because the boyfriend/girlfriend is a good person themselves and I would get to observe how they treat the family member. If they treat them good, then I can imagine how good they’ll treat me.
He should have told her beforehand. That is the point people are making. Ableism is not okay, obviously, but I would be at least somewhat upset and uncomfortable considering this is an important part of his life, but he didn't even introduce them.

I am actually on the girl's side. He can't expect others to put up with his brother if he acts like that; and he especially can't expect any girl to want to be with him if his brother is always going to tag along. People in a restaurant have the right no to have to sit through someone making a scene through an entire meal; and nobody should be expected to live with or always be around someone who is going to be problematic. There are always group homes.

Yea I agree completely, and she was definitely rude, but at the same time I think its important to let the person you’re going to date know that you are going to have to bring your brother with you everywhere, including on romantic dates.

There was so many tears shed through this video because it was extremely hard for me to watch. The way Gwen treated Brayden was extremely hard to watch. I have two brothers, older and younger and I grew up the disabled sibling. I have a developmental disability along with a developmental delay. I am so grateful that I grew up. I was just my brother sister. I am closer in age to my younger brother and I am extremely fortunate that his friends excepted me for who I am and not for my disability. I am extremely grateful that my older brothers girlfriends now his wife excepted me for who I am and not for my disability. Because I know much like this video, there are people out there who have disabled siblings, who are not excepted by their friends and or significant others. I am so glad the ending of the video turned out the way it did.
My dad is a special needs teacher and seeing people with a disability being treated this way hits close to home since I know a lot of those kids very well.

people with disabilities shouldn't be treated differently just because they behave differently, they're just as normal of a human as others are. everyone has their own way of behaving, communicating, learning, and understanding, that's what makes us human.

It sadly happens. There’s ignorant people out there with no consideration whatsoever.
In high school for instance, I’d witness this one girl bullied for being in special Ed (not Down syndrome). She was in a general Ed class and I’ve seen kids fall down to her as if she was worthless. I know this was high school, but they should have known better…..even at 16-17 years-old.

I kinda agree with Gwen that she wanted a date with Karter, alone without Brayden. Not saying that Brayden should excluded from certain events and activities but it would be nice if Karter would spend more time with Gwen that just with his brother.
If Brayden cannot stay on his own, even for a couple hours then you can take him to someone for a while like to a relative. And i know Brayden needs caring but even Karter needs more time for himself sometimes, just because, even non-disabled people deserve more of their own time and space.
As a mild-mentally disabled person myself, i don't needs much caring and i have a house of my own. I don't wanna waste anyone's time for me and even i can respect and give people their own space and time. I can manage on my own just fine.
I am a mildly disabled person myself, and I do agree with you that Brayden could be left alone for a few hours because he is not a little kid.
And people without disabilities deserve to have their own lives and personal space, just like people disabilities do.
It is so upsetting that parents often guilt trip their child or children to take care of their disabled sibling or siblings then they older. When people grow up, they need to set up boundaries, personal space, and live their own lives.
