hi, can I ask why one of the sticks is thicker? how does that help?

The stick I'm using with my left hand, on the snare drum, gives the drum a fuller sound than the hotrods I'm using with my right hand. But the thicker stick doesn't articulate well on cymbals, so I just used one of each. Thanks for listening!
