It really is though. Most of the Necrons are so mindless that it doesn’t bother them simply because they have no capacity to understand what’s happening around them in any complex way. The Stormcasts are immortal, and completely lucid. They can live for centuries and understand every moment of it. They can watch generations come and go, and feel the grief of every loss.
To the Necrons, immortality is a tool. To the Stormcast Eternals, it’s a burden beyond comparison.

Yes, this is true and infact the recall process is not 100% perfect either. There have been several times shown that magic or hinderances can stop the recall process either trapping the souls or destroying them. So no Stormcast are not completely invincible. It was even shown in the Soul Wars novel that even just great realm upheaval or magic storms can cause departing souls to get lost or destroyed on there way up. And even if they make it for reforging not every soul survives the reforging process; it is very traumatic. So sometimes they simply burn out before they can be reforged if they lack the strength or will power.
That is why Sigmar is constantly looking for replacements to replenish his ranks, and also why he has the Sacrosanct searching the realms for a way to perfect the process.

Loved this and where it's going as a week of videos. Lore can't just be reciting what the codex or battletomb says - anybody can do that. Looking at how it fits into a larger world and why things are like they are, how questions does it raise, are factions responding to the world or creating the very problems they claim to be trying to solve. This is, for me, what sets AoS and 40k apart from Star Wars and Star Trek. Great job as always

interesting, can you go into more detail? When you say "hero units" you mean like they are all individual models or named units units like the one from Shadespire?
2+Tough say you like have a free people army lead by a retributier as that the stormcast stand out and make them look cool

Personally I love the stormcast eternals, they remind me of the grey wardens from dragon age. Their lore is amazing in my opinion and kind of sad as well
Yea i love the fact they can be anyone not just warriors. Gardus was a doctor for example. Anyone who opposes chaos is liable to become one and thats real cool

So if Stormcast are constantly just reforged, does that mean that there is zero career progression for them?

great question! there is promotion, but its rare. For example, most vanguard-hunters (the rangers) are most often promoted from regular liberators.
So, I got a few questions:
-Firstly, are you going to do a video on the Stormcasts' military structures? Like, defining the different Chambers and their leaders and how they fit into the over all Stormhost. I find myself consistently confused and want to know the difference between who's in charge of what and it's been making it a little tough to figure out how to make my custom characters.
-Secondly, while I know that the single-minded justice is the only route of Stormcast deterioration that's been discussed, I have to wonder if there are other avenues for it as well. For instance, I have a Lord-Celestant in my custom Stormhost that, in life, was briefly trapped in a noble house corrupted by Slaanesh in Hysh before she escaped to Ghyran to eventually form a group of freedom fighters (who on the eve of their execution by Khornate forces got shot up to Azyr). In spite of that internal, ingrained sense of justice, I'm wondering if an external force could change the course of that development. In the case of my Lord-Celestant, rather than becoming colder and harsher, she gets more eccentric, more depraved almost like the Chaotic enemies they fight...

1) yes, tomorrow will cover the structure of stormhost, chamber and such.
2) Absolutely. Not all stormcast become insular and quite. For example the Astral Templars become more feral, they growl, snarl and boast more. SO it seems reasonable to me that as a soul is pulled at it can evolve in any number of ways :)
2+Tough Great. The character I’m basing this Lord-Celestant on had a bird that ended up containing the essence of a Goddess of Chaos. I’m thinking of giving mine a little bird companion that turns out to be a sort of vestige of Slaanesh giving her advice.
To be honest I’d love to see the return of old lore heroes like Konrad who were in their short series’ proven champions of Sigmar.

yes, tons. lol. The few black library books that show it, it seems like an extremely traumatic and painful experience every time

Hey there! To my knowledge a Stormcast hasnt yet died of Nurgles Rot. Gardus was inside the realm of chaos for weeks, in Nurgle's garden and did get infected. He got sick, he promptly puled his guts out when he escaped lol. So I'm honestly not sure. Since the narrative has shifted to discussing the nature of the soul more, I wouldnt be surprised if we get an answer soon though!
if a storm hold gets infected, would the Storm cast then attack their brothers destroy the stromhold, would the infected lay down and be slaughtered or would be civil war...
Just a suggestion... Look up Decimate, it's a pretty specific term. It does not mean to "utterly destroy."
Jonathan Trapani Yes and no. Its origins in the Roman army differs from today. Words and meaning changes with time.
Doesnt this mean the Stormcast Eternals will eventually overrun all of chaos? Cuz each one of them keeps coming back and Sigmar keeps making new Eternals right?

I'm really hoping that this doesn't take off to the same extent that Warhammer once did and GW ends up creating the old Warhammer world once more from where it left off. Instead of the end-times continuing forever, the gods and the world dragon recreate the world as it was just before the defeat of good, but in the moment of the Archaons victory, the stormcast eternals arrive, defeat the archaon, and drive him back into the chaos wastes and from there into the realm of chaos, only withdrawing once they close the chaos gate.
From there the AoS canon can continue as the wars in heaven, while the Warhammer world could continue as it was before, with the Skaven (now chaos aligned) re-tearing the chaos gate in the Warhammer world. Thus allowing chaos to once more begin its slow build up in the northern realms of man.
Oh no. They're turning into Space Marines.

Kemvaros there is a spiritual successor to the Bretonnians in AoS called the Kingdom of Volpone and the Three Duchies.
why do they bother with bows when they have those crossbows i doubt cost is the reason since they have access to unlimited resources
Whether by design or not, it seems that crossbows are about the QUANTITY of shots and bows are about the ACCURACY of shots. both have uses I suppose :)
2+Tough you'd think if the normal people can get a moving working fortress the stormcast could get a crossbow That could be accurate

Super-human soldiers who have given up their humanity, any future outside of war and death, and what that looks like (It is what drew me to the Adeptus Astartes long ago).
It'll be cool to see more 'liberal' hosts versus more 'extreme' hosts and see how they clash in the future...

Did you say "The carnal field we leave in our wake" at the beginning? Carnal is a word more normally used when you're talking about Slaanesh than Stormcasts, surely?
Unless Sigmar's got a much more kinky bent than I ever suspected :-) Maybe that's the real truth - Slaanesh isn't missing, it's just engaged in a bit of dressing up to fool everyone.

Carnal of course means worldly, of the flesh (which is why it has the Slaaneshi taint to it). From the Latin carnem, meaning meat.
