    3:54 Fun fact (although most fans probably already know this): The shot of Elevator car 3 suddenly veering out of control was actually an outtake during filming. But they thought it looked great as a shot, they decided to keep it in. Hence why they filmed the additional sequence of Elevator car 3 crashing into the plane to add more suspense. Plus they may have also decided to keep the shot in as they were extending the episodes anyway after Lew Grade requested they make Thunderbirds as 50 minute shows instead of 25 minutes.

    • @SiVlog1989

      The thing that ruined that episode for me was the sexism aspect of it. It should have been about the Tracy family (specifically Scott and Virgil) risking their lives to save a young family trapped in sealed passageways of the Thompson Tower, knowing that the gas that they were using to cut through metal doors as quickly as possible had the potential to knock them out at best. Instead, because it (the rescue) was caused by, and the Tracy family seemed to play on this, a female driver, it seemed to imply that women can't drive. It would have been better in my mind if it had been caused by a car having a stuck throttle or something, not making the female driver seem stupid in an example of blatant sexism in the script

      This was an episode as a child who loved Thunderbirds (Still do by the way I'm 62 now) used to give me nightmares. I used to find the fire and vain attempts to control it very frightening and the thought of being trapped in a small enclosed area below ground when you're not aware anyone even knows of your plight was truly scary to me and of course subsequently the collapse of The Thompson Tower has parallels with 9/11 even if not the result of a terrorist attack, but yes now it is one of my favourite "Edge of the seat" rescues from the series.

    • @FintanOMalley
      @FintanOMalley 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jerryattwooll4864 I know what you mean it was the first episode I watched in full and it scared me too, when the family members become unconscious I fully thought they died. After finishing that episode it took me a few days to go back and watch the next one. But I must have enjoyed something about it cause I continued watching.

      @@SiVlog1989 Remember this was made in the early 1960s and there were very few female drivers at that time. In fact, here in the UK, very few people owned a car. Even when I passed my driving test in 1975 at the first attempt (I'm female by the way), male drivers still outnumbered female drivers probably at a ratio of 10-1. Changed days now but the worst drivers I have seen are in the under 30 age group, especially young men showing off in high-powered cars they are really not capable of controlling. In fact, how some people ever managed to pass a driving test, and that applies to both men and women, I'll never know.

    Sun Probe for me. Just when the spacecraft was saved they had to rescue TB3. Then TB2 had the wrong box in the pod and had to recalculate the frequency for the safety beam on Brains's robot. So many twists. Plus Tin Tin was in it!

    After the cable car is stopped how does T2 retrieve the cables? They are clipped onto the car with spring clips and the electro magnets on those trucks can retrieve the Sidewinder but the magnets on T2s cables can't hold a smaller, lighter cable car. Good job I was only a kid when Thunderbirds was released in the 1960s.

    I'd have thought that "Trapped in the Sky" would have been no 1. Curious that "The Duchess Assignment" is on here, as that rescue doesn't immediately spring to mind when you think of Thunderbirds. However, in my adult years I have come to hold that rescue in high regard, as it is quite exciting. You've got Scott and Virgil putting two awesome pod vehicles into action, in a situation they were completely unprepared for, and battling a vicious inferno to save a life, which they accomplish by the skin of their teeth.

      It's mentioned in the episode, but they completely did not expect to have to fight a fire, so they had no firefighting equipment and all they had was the Mole and the DOMO, which was not fireproof (the suction caps melt). That and the fact it's a lonely spot implies that the regular fire service would never get there in time.

    Ooh, that's a hard question; they are all so good. For pure excitement, plus excellent editing/music it has to be Trapped in the Sky. For nail-biting moments and skilful flying (by 2 guys standing on planks suspended in mid-air) - End of the Road. But for best bit of rescuing by my favourite Tracy then it's Gordon saving the Fireflash in Operation Crash Dive.

    My favourite rescue would have to be saving the sidewinder. I also felt that the rescue of Southern should have made the list.

      The rescue of Southern is very underrated (great music and the cutting it fine feeling added to the tension).

    I like city of fire its quite tense as the family is running out of air and Scott and Virgil taking the risk using the very gas the made them collapse to get to them through the steel doors

    So is the Gerry Anderson team using the US region only Shout! Factory BD's as source now? Given the 4:3 aspect ratio. Be nice if it were available in the UK.
