We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

There's no way to sugar coat it Evan... Your homestead is by far more beautiful. Not that it's not nice visiting other places, but when You live in a place such as yours it's hard to top.
That's exactly the thought I had, 'Ah! back to beauty'! But it was a shame that time away was marred by unexpected surprises - nobody wants to be confronted with dirty sheets and a defective laundry.

It was neat seeing someone else's perspective of Branson and the surrounding area. I grew up about 45 minutes from Branson. My sister was Female Entertainer of the Year in Branson this last year.
There is something about your place that just beats any other spot to pure junk! You guys have the most picturesque homestead that I have ever seen, and I seen plenty! Seriously, Hallmark needs to put the barnyard and the home/pond view on some cards!!! Norman Rockwell couldn't do the Vision that you guys had!

Evan Rebecca. Soooo sorry your short vacation was marred by conditions in your rental cabin. The owner must be horrified by it all. But I must say that your attitude about the short comings of the cabin is remarkable. You and Rebecca refuse to allow it ruin your vacation. You both are good people. I just love the architecture and design of those Bass Pro shops. Reminds me of Disney World for some reason.

Family hates to take me anywhere because they wanna see shows and aquariums, museums, and eat out at actual restaurants and I wanna find flea markets,antique shops,and go through drivethroughs,lol.

Sad when sheets are not cleaned between guests. In the past hotels used to change sheets every other day, now you are lucky if they even do it between guests. I see more and more reviews talking about dirty sheets, moldy bathrooms and food left in the refrigerators

I haven't been on a vacation in like 8 years. When I move in a couple months. It'll be my first time out of California in 8 years. It'll be nice to be out of this wretched place...
I agree about the cabin, we have stayed in some kind of skitchey places, a mouse infestation was the worst. We opened a storage cabinet @ another and there was a can bed bug spray, I hope were are not suposed to use that the wife says.............

We just got back from Branson and Table Rock today. We were at Indian Point. Had a great time. Sorry you guys didn’t have the time you deserved.

We run about the same schedule. It is nice though to at least take a long weekend and get out of dodge as we call it. If we aren't home, the projects will wait.

That Bass Pro shop is a natural Museum, it looks awesome
We vacationed in Tennessee once near and had a bad experience at vacation rental as soon as my wife seen the dirty sheets we left stayed in hotel and got our money back good luck
found out many years ago that VRBO does not have standards that property ownres have to live by. they judge the property by the pictures provided by the owner, no inspection, etc... they also give you a hard time when you complain and ask for a refund on unsatisfactory rentals. i will never rent through hem ay more. there are so many reputable sites now.
Glad you were able to get away for a bit. If you are able to go to Branson again you have to make a stop at Lamberts Cafe. There’s one in Ozark and one in Sykeston, both in Mo. what an awesome place to eat! Great food, service in an awesome experience. You won’t be disappointed!
A lot of cottages around here have you bring your own bedding. Which is good for everyone. Ontario 🇨🇦🙂
You really don't want to bring back some unwanted critters, I think there is plenty of live stock on the farm.
I also had a problem with a VRBO rental not being cleaned at all before we arrived. The owner refused to clean it, and the best VRBO could do was refund us $100 on a $700 bill. Never again....
Nice to get away sorry your vacation stay wasn't what you expected hopefully you got your money back. I bet the covers never get washed. Buy a camper so you can go anywhere and your bed is clean just a thought.

That's a bummer about your Vebo BNB experience. We had a similar experience with a different BnB and decided from now on to just get a place in town in a hotel and spend more time looking around and eating in Branson and that works better. Grizzly is a fantastic stop to make and Bass Pro is an every time stop too. Glad you both had a good time and a safe trip, that's a fun place to go. Fred.

washing machine is no excuse. The cleaners should always have extras on hand. Sometimes the problem is the cleaners, sometimes the owner, sometimes both. Please dont judge all by the few bad ones. Hope you come back again.
So glad you both managed to have a few days vacation, but if you're anything like me, it's nice to be home again.
We had good luck with a VRBO in Gatlinburg and Air BnB this last week near Mammoth Cave National Park. We stayed about 20 minutes away in Smiths Grove,KY to save money. Pretty convenient being between Bowling Green and the park...I enjoyed getting to see the National Corvette Museum. My wife has talked about going to Missouri...good to know Branson is pretty similar to Gatlinburg.

Happy anniversary guys. Sorry about your accommodation issues. A clean bed is a minimum, no excuse is sufficient, and Rebekah shouldn’t need to clean bedding on the start of a vacation. You should have had a refund or at least partially.
Nice that you at least got away and got to see some nice places.
Pretty messed up the cabin owner tried to pass off the dirty sheets and they obviously new the washer wasn’t working properly. Hope you got compensated for the inconvenience. Glad you got some time off.
Im glad you both got some time away from the homestead together. Sounds like you needed the time away. Its best to take the time away that you need rather than face burning out with the whole content creation. Some of my favorite channels have battled burnout and I hope you dont go down that path.

I'm about an hour and a half away from Branson. Used to go there frequently on the weekends before gas got so expensive. Glad you got to enjoy at least part of your vacation.
JudithB Its a shame the cabin wasnt in better shape and ready for you to enjoy. We visit Bass Pro-Memphis quite often, but wow! I want to go see the Springfield one!!! I havent been away anywhere in 11 yrs, so waiting for our Casino to be built, if the locals will let it happen. Glad everything was good with the farm!!!

we rented one of those cabins
bed had been humped out hot tub didnt work spa didnt work and washer and dryer had been removed
pulled mattress off bed and put on floor only way we could sleep never again
next vacation, go for a long time. 2 or 3 weeks! treat yourselfs like a king and queen, at the end you will be happy to get home!

Oh shucks! I'm sorry for your bad experience. I would have put you up for the night.LOL I'm 1 hr. from Silver Dollar City and less than an hr. from Bass Pro. If you want to come back, give me a holler! Love your old videos with baling using the 730 Case and NH baler. I also have a 730 Case gasoline and used a NH 69 Super Hayliner. Still have them.

Glad you are home safe and had a great time. We have a Bass Pro on the shore of Lake Ray Hubbard in Garland Tx.It's about ten miles from us. We don't spend several hours at a time but we need to go there a few times a year. It's beautiful at Christmas time.
