When I heard this song I was able to warm my heart and remember that the Lord has blessed my family for generations and my son went into treatment for depression and today, months later, he is not only better but has had real experiences with Jesus. Will someone tell me what a “first world Christian” is and what that means? There is a comment stating that these lyrics have somehow been taken out of context and used for “personal gain”. How is taking scripture, singing it and applying it to the current times a bad thing? Personal gain in what way? Because there is a TH-cam video made? It’s 2021, how else do you reach the masses? Isn’t personal gain all of our gain? Peace, hope and love is just too much “personal gain” at a time like this? If one person finds hope and love and peace, Amen. You are me and I am you. Your gain is my gain. Your peace is my peace. Your hope is my hope. This was brought to the masses at a time filled with immense fear not just individually but collectively. What a beautiful gain for ALL of us. How many people would not have been introduced to scripture and to Gods presence if not for this song. How many would not have experienced hope, how many were brought closer to God by this song? How dare you. Gods light comes through many forms. His word, his love, its healing and powerful. I would never think God would want it kept for just a “few”. I’m thankful for this song. I’m thankful I’m still able to find Gods light in a world full darkness.

The whole lead up to Numbers 6 is about holiness - being set apart for God. A repentant people. Yet here we have a song which stands outside of that context - which has allowed the intimacy that exists between God and a repentant people to be offered to the world as a gift - for personal gain. Her other song just released here is the same - God is like washing powder - add him to your wash and all your clothes will come out whiter. How dare she. We are so sick that the idea that Jesus came into the world so that first world Christians could go to sleep at night with happy thoughts is now acceptable to us. It's not just acceptable - it's the gospel.
This is not true. These lyrics are STRAIGHT out of scripture. You can take this song how you will. This is not a prosperity gospel, this IS the gospel!
