Property taxes need to be higher in Guyana. People are renting for 50,000-150,000 and more per month but only pay $10,000 or a bit more in property taxes. Many businesses are paying nothing. There is no way City Council ( though incompetent) can handle the business of keeping the City clean with that type of income. We talk about the US and like living here but we pay thousands of dollars in property taxes. If the City council has the money and the City is a mess then we can complain. Right now, the narrative is different. Citizens also have to stop dumping in drains and anywhere. We are also responsible for keeping our surroundings CLEAN.
