Hello Harris I love the way you've made the sled. I would love to have one just like that because there is very little steering help from the machine itself. But do you have a work plan on how to make one? Or is it just "free imagination"?? (I live in Denmark).
Hej Carsten, tak for din kommentar.
@@Harris-DIY Tusind tak for dit svar!!
I would not recommend that, mdf wears out too quickly and is imprecise. I make mine from oak or other hard wood and they hold up well but have the problem that the wood works a lot with changes in temperature and humidity. I have been recommended to use bamboo as it should be less sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature, but I have not yet tried it.
@@Harris-DIY Hello Mr Harris! I ended up not using bamboo. Instead I used Ipe (Brazilian wood used in outdoor floors; it is hard, stable and heavy). I think, only time will tell me if it is ok, but till now i have no complaints . I glued it with epoxy. The place where I live the humidity goes up and down from 60, 70, 80 and 90% in winter. I still didn't finish the cross cut sleed, because i'm having difficulties... what tool do you use, on the parallel to the blade t-track slot, for opening the space for the t-nut to enter. I experimented in a test t-track with a normal drill bit. It did not aproved. And about gluing the fences to the base which glue should I use?
Where are these jigs good for.... I see what you make but don't know what you can do with it. Speak Danish and use subtitle to translate. I am very intrested in you video's. By the wat do you have plans availlable? Also the one op your website?
Houtje Boom - Be Creative Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, there are no drawings. You can see how jigs are used here th-cam.com/video/Dt1VfCmB0uw/w-d-xo.html
Petrik Oud The drawings should remind you how wood works in dry and humid conditions, so remember to turn the wood right. If the years in the tree turn wrong, the sticks will either become too tight or loose when the humidity in the air changes.
Thanks for the awesome idea! I'll try making it by watching the video
Thank you for your comment
Another brilliant design, I love the way you've extended the saw table width too

It's the quietest I've tried but it probably also depends on how listening is in the house.
Query, how thick is the base of the sled?

Hello Mr. Harris!
Is it ok use mdf for the sticks?

@@Harris-DIY It's what i thought. I can use bamboo, i have it.
Fine, let me know if it's stable

Thanks for the info, sounds like a good choice. Good luck with the project. I used a regular 12mm. metal drill bit and regular white wood glue.
Hello Harris, may I know where you got the featherboard from?
Ernesto Furest They are from a cheap milling table th-cam.com/video/tVpgYNXQJBw/w-d-xo.html

I am not understanding your drawings with the rain and sun. What are you trying to say there?

Yes, it feels a bit like a mime show.
