Pretty true for a lot of points and I was able to stay with TDS for much longer compared to Tower Blitz Of course, the grind is a big one considering I just got engineer like a month ago, and with the buffs to many towers, it has become more fun because of new strategies If Tower Blitz is gonna compete with TDS (if any), it has to somehow become innovative like pvp, or have something for players after they get recon base (e.g. endless, tier 5 upgrades, expert challenges, maybe an emote shop since they can borrow from Evade)
Too bad things like PVP, tier 5 towers, endless, and perks will be pushed until a much later date since they aren't being worked on. Though hopefully we can see a spike in active playercount once those are fully completed and released
Tier 5 upgrades are a thing though. When you get Recon Base, you can do quests to unlock tier 5 upgrades for the Recon base, including Alien Warfare and Bliss of Finality
TDS got so popular in the first stages because of John Roblox, who already had pretty big amount of subscribers at the moment of release of TDS. Maybe, if somebody like John made a video about TBZ - then, perhaps, it would blow up.
He made vids of tower battles but it never really took off in playercount as well as with tds but yea the effect of a content creator should not be underestimated

The problem imo is it's way more laggier than tds (eg: chapter 4 and extreme mode), making low end devices player can't play the game (why i quit). Tds is pretty laggy, way less than tbz, making it more low end friendly. It's also the fact that tds has more tower to grind for, making it having more concurrent player count. Tds is going to rebalance/rework towers, will make the game a lot more popular. Because people who quit tds might join back, because trash towers has been buffed
True. Ijoined on duck update for a little then quit nd tried other games but now i made fresh account nad played tds and grinded for like a month i have everything just a bit sad that i dont have event towers only special mode towers
due to the updates and how the devs do work internally winter update was full of bad balancing and many bugs etc and later moving on same thing in future i expect the same things to happen
TDS definitely updates more and has been getting amazingly good updates since December 2021 to now with decent balancing, remaking enemies and ui and other things, and just a lot more to keep players. Not only that but tds recently has basically been getting weekly updates every Friday which is really cool

Almost every tower is copied, even the Accelerator which is functionally similar to the phaser just with a different animation. Scout is same. But honestly tb is absolute trash now it gets no updates and the grinding in the game is insane with only 100 coins from a win that’s definitely not made for beginners and the towers r extremely expensive. Tower blitz nerfed tons of it’s towers recently and I will admit I haven’t played the new rework update the towers r kinda trash now. Normal mode is the easiest mode but it’s still really hard even for decent towers in the game. Also tower blitz kinda gets repetitive and tds makes the game a lot more replayable. Tds definitely has some flaws and I find it very annoying but hating on the game is not something anyone should do. The quality of tbz is very close to tds and honestly might even be better in a unique different style and way, but tds still has that quality to the game that’s iconic and good overall. Now this is something I think, but as a player of tds that moved to tbz during the tds droughts (frost invasion to solar then solar to engineer event and engineer event to polluted wastelands 2) tds was very dry not much to do. I discovered tbz with around 500 players and I joined. Immediately I could tell the game's quality was so much higher and the fact that it was only 2 devs blew my mind. I grinded the game out then just as I was getting recon base the winter event dropped with lb and more content. I proceeded to grind that event , and I loved it the light beamer was also such a cool tower. But as the event came to a close and I had nothing else to do I started to get bored and stopped playing as did most people. Then Oster and beef just became radio silent. Evade then release and it was nice to see that their talents were still in use with a much more appreciated game. Then in came LordCatFood, I originally had high hopes but then the update dropped, it was partially my fault by I expected a oster/beef team level quality and it just wasn't there and I became extremally disappointed. overall in retrospect it wasnt that bad but I never got the tower from it
Since tbz developer focus to develop evade than tbz, i think the dev didn't update tbz for awhile and that makes player get boring because there's no update
Well no, not really, although at first Oster and beef were developing tbz, when evade blew up, they hired LCF and rhyssko to continue to develop the game (except that oster and beef dont pay the tbz devs anymore, they get paid from tbz alone now)
I think TBZ never got as popular as TDS due to the lack of updates, but I have a really good reason why they decided to do that. It was left to die out ever since the succession of Evade, and as we all know, Evade surpassed TDS's highest playercount, that of which being the Frost Invasion event. I think due to this, the owners of TBZ focused on Evade more and left TBZ to die. It also seems to be the case that recent events of TBZ were insanely underwhelming due to the shere updates Evade was getting.

TDS absolutely perfected matchmaking, as much as I loathe elevators and having to wait for a good map you could actually find a game, also the simple button matchmaking choosing how many players you want was great, I still think they should keep custom games a matchmaking but adding elevators and automatic matchmaking would make it so much better.
Coz it was a pain as a begginer on tds. I understand how it’s so hard to play with starting towers, and i’ve already grinded so much. I don’t wanna start over again with newer game interface on another game. Plus tds is a lot more better quality
it may also be because getting coins and getting good towers to beat certain modes is easier i played tower nlitz cause i got bored of tds and it kinda hard beating some modes or finding players to help beat certain modes
The TBZ graphics are waay better than the TDS one's, and even if the lobby if kinda boring, it has many special effects that makes it fun, like the background of the boss figthings like Ignitus and Overlord, the problem is Tower Blitz is way to short to complete, and Tower Defense Simulator needs more than a couple of months or more than a year to FULLY complete it, while Tower Blitz can took just 2 months or less if you play it so much. So i think TBZ needs to add some content like new towers and another gamemode.
The King of Tower Defense will also be the top meanwhile the Former and First King of Tower Defense (Tower Battles)will still be the legend that never die....
The reason that tower blitz never grew that much because the old devs quit of making tower blitz but doing on evade update. And the new devs are just worst than old devs making it. Plus that overlord voice lines removed was actually just defeat its main purposed of the game.
This is probably the end of TBZ due to TDX because now Tower blitz has lost it's unique mechanic of 2 paths and the game still haven't recieved any major updates for a long time.

Tower blitz with its custom player meshes and stuff kinda lacks color sometimes, things feeling bland while tds has a more bright scheme making it more enjoyable too.
i personally would play tower blitz more if i actually had something to do because i have all towers ingame and personally what tower blitz did with "event towers" is what made me like the game cause like if you missed an event it would either come back again or you can do a specific challenge to unlock the tower like mechanic where you have to beat 4 specific maps on expert also tower blitz dont have enough people to produce the high quality content that they do for events
Yeah. I was so mad surveyor didn't have a challenge because I tried to beat chapter 2 only to fail all 31 times (I counted btw.) Something even worse is, they said if you beat the event from 2021 you could participate in chapter 4 without having to do 2 and 3 again. Well that was a fckin lie Ever since evade came and they hired new, inexperienced Devs it's just not the same. The quality drastically dropped

Imo, its not that TBz is dying, its that all of roblox TD has been dying lately as most TD games have been bleeding players recently and because of the successful type of TD game created by TB and TDS, alot of TD games on roblox are, for a lack of better words, kinda like TDS. Tbh your opinions are pretty based, even if I personally disagree with the quality thing (mostly personal preference tho) but really, a lot of the reason of why TBz died is external imo. i played tower blitz since it first released in my own experience and my opinion for this game is 1.lag i dont have to say more, just look at what they did in chapter 4 (the game is not friendly for people who doesnt have good PC) 2.balancing and bug that never be fixed for a year, balancing on this game is okay not that great and not that bad (sometime they overbuff or overnerf tower that was already balanced) next is bug that never been fixed and its RoF bug (you may asked "wdym rof bug?") im not lying tho this bug never get fix i dont like how 0-3 Lightbeamer has 0.2 firerate but sometime it took over 15s to kill 40HP enemy (this bug mostly be seen to fast fire rate tower) 3.stupid enemy abilities, have you ever wonder why sometime boss or enemy that able to attack can stun all your towers in the map? Its making no sense 4.lack of content there was more but welp i dont really want to talk about it Edit: the 2nd topic i was talking about Bug that never been fix right? Well in my opnion tower blitz is better than tds for multiple reasons like: 1- towers doesn't get massive nerfs like tds towers do (example toxic gunner) 2- tower blitz is actually fun to play, despite belownatural making custom gamemodes like pizza party and pw2, tower blitz still have the modifiers wich make the experience even funnier 3- unique names for enemies and towers and not just "normal, speedy and hidden" But the reason i think tower blitz never grew to tds playercount its because tds had more time to become popular and also because of John Roblox, who was an big reason for why tds grew up so fast. But if a people like John focus on tower blitz content for a while, prob tower blitz will grow at the level of tds

Imo the time where there was the cold costruct event was were tbz was actually better than tds, after that, we literally got nothing new except for the the chapter four which came out 1 year later, in the meanwhile tds has made a lot more changes, like new gamemodes. Tbz still has the potential to be better than tbz if they add the pvp which oster was developping since like april of 2022, even if players will still play tds more (more players doesnt mean better game), also cuz many of the updates released in 2022 by tds devs were just reskins of the regural modes (the only original thing was duck hunt).
I would say it's because tds is far more remorable, it's an experience you don't forget, like btd6, another thing, when i haven't played tds in a while, i atleast had an idea what i am supposed to do once i returned, tower blitz? Another factor is that tower blitz is incredibly buggy. Certain towers have broken animation, it can get incredibly laggy, etc. I think tower blitz is great, but tds is just better.
I mean considering that tbz is really laggy (chap 4 reference) most people who dont have pc cant play tbz while you can still play tds regardless of device just that its more painful

Just my opinion, but I think tds is getting a bit too grindy at later stuff like hardcore also its super repetitive which makes it boring quickly, especially if u are alone also u are kinda wrong about that not much updates for tower blitz cause that goes for tds too though ye, its kinda weird for some reason i never wanted to grind tower blitz. I just don't feel like grinding it everytime. anyways, for what i think(though i barely played tower blitz), i believe that tower blitz should have a chance to stand with tds because of the quality i experienced. It's kinda sad how some of the games I really like get popular for like a month and die out while some crappy game like pet simulator x would continue to live on for so long. I don't even get why. tower blitz is most likely not going to surpass TDS because their focus is Evade, it's their biggest cash cow so why should they support a game with less than 1k remaining players? It's easier to update, easier to fix, easier in every department, meanwhile in a TD game you gotta think of something new all the time, like the amount of damage a tower does, how fast they fire, skins, ect.
Tower blitz got clapped by evade and the ineffective and neglectful updates it has because evade got more attention. It’s just not fair for tower blitz tho…. :(
tbz had an issue of infrequent updates, no events, poor balance and no way to facilitate grind AND a lack of maps. It had so many issues that tds just didn't have.
tds before the buff update was very dull and the molten grinding made my neurons decay i almost had a stroke trying to even comprehend dying over and over in hardcore just to get accel so before the buff update, tbz was better now they are equal in terms of interestingness still prefer btd6 tho

Only reason I switched semi permanently is because I got bored of TDS and for me at least Tower Blitz just has that extra challenge that's possible but not Hardcore levels of hard
Only thing I disagree is about the grinding part. Grinding only creates artificial replayability. What do I mean by this? While it is true that grinding does keep players coming back to the game, if all the replayable parts of the game is the grind, people will not play the game for long and the game will have a very low playercount. TDS has high playercount because it is fun, not because of the insane grind it has. Example is R2DA: The game was very grindy, there were only like few mid-rank weapons that were worth using, meanwhile most of the good stuff was locked on higher ranks. But the base gameplay, while fun, can get a bit old too fast. Spawncamping was the go-to technique for most of the game's lifetime since campaign rewards back then were so terrible that the most reliable way to make money was just killing alot of zombies but there was another problem which was kill-stealing which wouldn't have been that much of a problem but there were 2 things that DID make it a problem. 1. Temporary Armor and Equipments Armor and Equipments that you would bring with you in the round were not permanent and you had to buy them every round. Admittedly this did make some interesting decisions to the players. Would you rather only rely on weapons, minimal equipments, and the map's naturally spawned loot to save up more money at the cost of being able to die more easily? Or would you prefer to get more gears in order to have a bigger chance at survival as well as be a bit more stronger but with the disadvantage that you will need to work more harder to gain more money than you spent. But the game's grindy nature made this system frustrating. 2. High-Rank Weapons People with HR weapons could just easily get most of the kills and thus get most of the money. Meanwhile, Low-Mid Rank players couldn't get alot of kills and at best, only average around 20 normal zombie kills and 5 special infected kills. Now to be fair, the devs did solve the grinding problem by making XP easier to get, especially with the addition of contracts, and buffing campaign rewards and rewarding players for doing the objectives so that why, players that may not have been great in the zombie-slaying department could still contribute in some way and get a decent reward for it but it came way too late. Another problem was the overreliance on limited-time events and neglect of base-game content. Most of the content of the game's lifespan were revolved around limited-time events and base-game contents gradually became neglected. While it did boost the playercounts, it was only a short-term solution, a solution that would no longer work later on. (ex. Halloween Event 2020). TLDR: R2DA is an example of what happens when your game is more focused on grinding rather than being fun as well as neglecting base-game content in favor of limited time events.
If tbz was more optimised and beginner friendly It would do better, there's also a big lack of Devs since oster and beef are mostly on evade since it's their most popular game I think ugc COULD make the game more popular if an item gets popular, or do something like doors where if you buy a UGC you get perks (tokens, skins) and also maybe another revenue source
ermmmm, the best early game tower BEFORE surv literally costs 1.5k tokens and its sharpshooter. you can also buy sniper to help your teammates in expert, and there is A SIGNIFICANT optimization, its just that youre running it on a shit pc.

The quality of tbz is very close to tds and honestly might even be better in a unique different style and way, but tds still has that quality to the game that’s iconic and good overall. And sure, there are a few towers that don't copy, but rarely any of them are viable. This leads into the conversation about balance. Nearly all of the towers are bad, and only a few are good. They also, resell event towers. I was an OG fan of TDS, and the last shred of respect I had for them went down the drain when they put the Gladiator tower on sale. Disgusting.
TDS is a poorly balanced game, with little to no original ideas. That is the truth.
Now this is something I think, but as a player of tds that moved to tbz during the tds droughts (frost invasion to solar then solar to engineer event and engineer event to polluted wastelands 2) tds was very dry not much to do. I discovered tbz with around 500 players and I joined. Immediately I could tell the game's quality was so much higher and the fact that it was only 2 devs blew my mind. I grinded the game out then just as I was getting recon base the winter event dropped with lb and more content. I proceeded to grind that event , and I loved it the light beamer was also such a cool tower. But as the event came to a close and I had nothing else to do I started to get bored and stopped playing as did most people. Then Oster and beef just became radio silent. Evade then release and it was nice to see that their talents were still in use with a much more appreciated game. Then in came LordCatFood, I originally had high hopes but then the update dropped, it was partially my fault by I expected a oster/beef team level quality and it just wasn't there and I became extremally disappointed. overall in retrospect it wasnt that bad but I never got the tower from it

Well no, not really, although at first Oster and beef were developing tbz, when evade blew up, they hired LCF and rhyssko to continue to develop the game (except that oster and beef dont pay the tbz devs anymore, they get paid from tbz alone now)
I think TBZ never got as popular as TDS due to the lack of updates, but I have a really good reason why they decided to do that. It was left to die out ever since the succession of Evade, and as we all know, Evade surpassed TDS's highest playercount, that of which being the Frost Invasion event. I think due to this, the owners of TBZ focused on Evade more and left TBZ to die. It also seems to be the case that recent events of TBZ were insanely underwhelming due to the shere updates Evade was getting.

TDS absolutely perfected matchmaking, as much as I loathe elevators and having to wait for a good map you could actually find a game, also the simple button matchmaking choosing how many players you want was great, I still think they should keep custom games a matchmaking but adding elevators and automatic matchmaking would make it so much better.
Coz it was a pain as a begginer on tds. I understand how it’s so hard to play with starting towers, and i’ve already grinded so much. I don’t wanna start over again with newer game interface on another game. Plus tds is a lot more better quality

i played tower nlitz cause i got bored of tds and it kinda hard beating some modes or finding players to help beat certain modes
The TBZ graphics are waay better than the TDS one's, and even if the lobby if kinda boring, it has many special effects that makes it fun, like the background of the boss figthings like Ignitus and Overlord, the problem is Tower Blitz is way to short to complete, and Tower Defense Simulator needs more than a couple of months or more than a year to FULLY complete it, while Tower Blitz can took just 2 months or less if you play it so much. So i think TBZ needs to add some content like new towers and another gamemode.
The reason why TBZ is worse than TDS is lags. TBZ's late game stage has a lot of effects, explosions and etc., which will cause a lot of lags

The reason that tower blitz never grew that much because the old devs quit of making tower blitz but doing on evade update. And the new devs are just worst than old devs making it. Plus that overlord voice lines removed was actually just defeat its main purposed of the game.
This is probably the end of TBZ due to TDX because now Tower blitz has lost it's unique mechanic of 2 paths and the game still haven't recieved any major updates for a long time.

Tower blitz with its custom player meshes and stuff kinda lacks color sometimes, things feeling bland while tds has a more bright scheme making it more enjoyable too.
i personally would play tower blitz more if i actually had something to do because i have all towers ingame and personally what tower blitz did with "event towers" is what made me like the game cause like if you missed an event it would either come back again or you can do a specific challenge to unlock the tower like mechanic where you have to beat 4 specific maps on expert
also tower blitz dont have enough people to produce the high quality content that they do for events

Imo, its not that TBz is dying, its that all of roblox TD has been dying lately as most TD games have been bleeding players recently and because of the successful type of TD game created by TB and TDS, alot of TD games on roblox are, for a lack of better words, kinda like TDS. Tbh your opinions are pretty based, even if I personally disagree with the quality thing (mostly personal preference tho) but really, a lot of the reason of why TBz died is external imo. i played tower blitz since it first released in my own experience and my opinion for this game is
1.lag i dont have to say more, just look at what they did in chapter 4 (the game is not friendly for people who doesnt have good PC)
2.balancing and bug that never be fixed for a year, balancing on this game is okay not that great and not that bad (sometime they overbuff or overnerf tower that was already balanced) next is bug that never been fixed and its RoF bug (you may asked "wdym rof bug?") im not lying tho this bug never get fix i dont like how 0-3 Lightbeamer has 0.2 firerate but sometime it took over 15s to kill 40HP enemy (this bug mostly be seen to fast fire rate tower)
3.stupid enemy abilities, have you ever wonder why sometime boss or enemy that able to attack can stun all your towers in the map? Its making no sense
4.lack of content

Well in my opnion tower blitz is better than tds for multiple reasons like:
1- towers doesn't get massive nerfs like tds towers do (example toxic gunner)
2- tower blitz is actually fun to play, despite belownatural making custom gamemodes like pizza party and pw2, tower blitz still have the modifiers wich make the experience even funnier
3- unique names for enemies and towers and not just "normal, speedy and hidden"
But the reason i think tower blitz never grew to tds playercount its because tds had more time to become popular and also because of John Roblox, who was an big reason for why tds grew up so fast. But if a people like John focus on tower blitz content for a while, prob tower blitz will grow at the level of tds
So many people grinded or spent robux a lot in tds so the devs had a lot of money to invest in tds. So many tds users would never move because how much time and money they spent on tds
Imo the time where there was the cold costruct event was were tbz was actually better than tds, after that, we literally got nothing new except for the the chapter four which came out 1 year later, in the meanwhile tds has made a lot more changes, like new gamemodes.
Tbz still has the potential to be better than tbz if they add the pvp which oster was developping since like april of 2022, even if players will still play tds more (more players doesnt mean better game), also cuz many of the updates released in 2022 by tds devs were just reskins of the regural modes (the only original thing was duck hunt).

Another factor is that tower blitz is incredibly buggy. Certain towers have broken animation, it can get incredibly laggy, etc. I think tower blitz is great, but tds is just better.

Just my opinion, but I think tds is getting a bit too grindy at later stuff like hardcore

tower blitz is most likely not going to surpass TDS because their focus is Evade, it's their biggest cash cow so why should they support a game with less than 1k remaining players? It's easier to update, easier to fix, easier in every department, meanwhile in a TD game you gotta think of something new all the time, like the amount of damage a tower does, how fast they fire, skins, ect.

tbz had an issue of infrequent updates, no events, poor balance and no way to facilitate grind AND a lack of maps. It had so many issues that tds just didn't have.

Only thing I disagree is about the grinding part.
Grinding only creates artificial replayability. What do I mean by this?
While it is true that grinding does keep players coming back to the game, if all the replayable parts of the game is the grind, people will not play the game for long and the game will have a very low playercount. TDS has high playercount because it is fun, not because of the insane grind it has.
Example is R2DA: The game was very grindy, there were only like few mid-rank weapons that were worth using, meanwhile most of the good stuff was locked on higher ranks.
But the base gameplay, while fun, can get a bit old too fast. Spawncamping was the go-to technique for most of the game's lifetime since campaign rewards back then were so terrible that the most reliable way to make money was just killing alot of zombies but there was another problem which was kill-stealing which wouldn't have been that much of a problem but there were 2 things that DID make it a problem.
1. Temporary Armor and Equipments
Armor and Equipments that you would bring with you in the round were not permanent and you had to buy them every round. Admittedly this did make some interesting decisions to the players.
Would you rather only rely on weapons, minimal equipments, and the map's naturally spawned loot to save up more money at the cost of being able to die more easily?
Or would you prefer to get more gears in order to have a bigger chance at survival as well as be a bit more stronger but with the disadvantage that you will need to work more harder to gain more money than you spent.
But the game's grindy nature made this system frustrating.
2. High-Rank Weapons
People with HR weapons could just easily get most of the kills and thus get most of the money. Meanwhile, Low-Mid Rank players couldn't get alot of kills and at best, only average around 20 normal zombie kills and 5 special infected kills.
Now to be fair, the devs did solve the grinding problem by making XP easier to get, especially with the addition of contracts, and buffing campaign rewards and rewarding players for doing the objectives so that why, players that may not have been great in the zombie-slaying department could still contribute in some way and get a decent reward for it but it came way too late.
Another problem was the overreliance on limited-time events and neglect of base-game content.
Most of the content of the game's lifespan were revolved around limited-time events and base-game contents gradually became neglected. While it did boost the playercounts, it was only a short-term solution, a solution that would no longer work later on. (ex. Halloween Event 2020).
TLDR: R2DA is an example of what happens when your game is more focused on grinding rather than being fun as well as neglecting base-game content in favor of limited time events.
If tbz was more optimised and beginner friendly
It would do better, there's also a big lack of Devs since oster and beef are mostly on evade since it's their most popular game
I think ugc COULD make the game more popular if an item gets popular, or do something like doors where if you buy a UGC you get perks (tokens, skins) and also maybe another revenue source
ermmmm, the best early game tower BEFORE surv literally costs 1.5k tokens and its sharpshooter. you can also buy sniper to help your teammates in expert, and there is A SIGNIFICANT optimization, its just that youre running it on a shit pc.
