Started a new job in 1976…..I was 18 yrs old….car pooled with my high school buddy everyday…..and played these guys and this song as loud as we could stand…..we are both retired now and laugh about it all the time when we see each other….good stuff…..rock on Brad Delp….you are missed!!
When I read this I imagined you guys rocking out to this jam
Probably the most underrated bass player ever! Phrasing, melody, and feel are second to none!
Mick Mars (guitarist of Mötley Crüe) is pretty underrated too even though Fran Sheehan is a bass player
But, Tom played the parts on the album.
Drummer is more underrated then the bassist.
Tom sholtz always killing it
The vocals are also highly underrated.... I didn’t know he had this tonal control.
Probably the most positive boston tune. Such great lyrical composition too
No backing tracks, no midi, no auto tune and no mistakes!
That's a real rock band!
Sample that!
RIP Brad Delp.
Frank Nance Hell yessss!!!! 👍👌❤
RIP Brad Delp - indeed 😢
I could not have said it better
They are tight as hell for sure. The bassist is tearing up it up here.
just a rock n rollband. no frills
stfu boomer
When rock was rock.
😁😁😁👍😏🐳🐬
I was there, it poured rain during the support band(The Outlaws).. everyone ran for cover,,. The old Giants stadium had no roof, But the sun came out and so did Boston, and delivered one of my greatest memories of my life
Im so jealous! I grew up in Alaska, very rare to see any band in the 70s. When this album debuted I was walking down a frontier road cassette and head phones, sun was out and the music really took me away! I still remember how great Boston sounded!! Thanks for sharing
You lucky bastard.. :}
This is why I read the comments
Seen them live so many times. Will never forget Peace of Mind. Greatest R&R record of all time.
surprised to hear they were the headliner since it was light out, and since the audience seems very subdued, like they were waiting for something else
I thank God that we had Brad Delp for as long as we did. RIP, Brad!
Brad is awesome, but Fran stole the show on this tune.
The head banging bassist is bad to the bone! Every time I hear Boston I think about cruising in my1971 Super Bee! Wish I still had it!😞
Wish I still had my ‘66 Mustang & ‘69 Grand Prix
Graduated in ‘76… we had the best music back then
Wasn't expecting the bass player to steal the show! ;) haha. Awesome.
Literally! Took over the entire mix, hahaha.
damn that bass is rockin!
no he's just playing normally like any bassist but just because its way louder than the guitar you feel like he's rockin
Darth. Vader mmkay well 32 people beg to differ...
so you mean 32 people dont know shit about music
Outstanding Bass Player! In the Groove !
Your talent level has revealed itself for the whole world to view. Are you proud of yourself Dark Vapor? Anyone who knows ANYTHING about Boston knows Fran the bassist is adding sweet technical touches all over the place in this tune and other tunes that vary from the commercial LP/radio cuts.I have this idea it may those "32" who DO know a little bit about music and "Boston" and just you who may be the odd man out.You would do well to listen and read harder, maybe in particular about this musical background bassist, as his live riffs are very tasteful and without distracting from the Scholz Boston sound. Now, get back to your fantasy movies so you will comment less on things you do not know.
That Fran Sheehan was a beast on the bass man just rocking out like he’s the only one there such a great bassist
That bassist f-ing rocks.
The bass player is playing that bass with passion and soul! Really awesome.
A band full of great musicians, Bass Player was Exceptional, love his energy and stage presence as well
FRAN Sheehan??
Man I love Boston, these songs make ya feel good, this is real talent!
That’s some great headbangin from the bass player!!!🤘🏼
I am tired of people saying that these guys were a great studio band, but only sounded "so-so" live. You can hear the passion and artistry pouring out of them. I always liked this song and the riff in particular (which I think is amongst the best hooks of all time), but never gave a second thought to the bass line until now. Frannie's play here was amazing and added an extra layer to an already "rich" sound. Early 70s to mid 8os was a sweet spot in rock back when musicians and not performers took center stage.
David Handy, great points and this was 1979, long before we had the technical wizardry that bands could use when playing live to enhance their sound. They sound pretty damn awesome here, and I guarantee you if they were around today they would be blowing other classic rock bands out of the water!
I agree this is much better than I was expecting from everything I’ve heard about Boston live
It's good but unlike the recording alot of the really high parts are not full voice.
I love love love your comment.
I was born in '88, and I'm just realizing this now. These people were amazing! What happened to us? The music they created is so wonderful!
Peace of Mind has always been my favorite Boston song. Unlike that other song, it will never get old.
damn that bassist was head banging in 1979
Tristan Perez No shit
And his neck is probably cactus now!! Lols ;)
ozzy was headbanging in 1970 what's your point
Buddy Holly was head banging on the Ed Sullivan Show when he played Oh Boy
He must've been on something
Fran,on bass, forces everybody else in the band to keep up! Incredible performance
Brad Delp, by far, has the most distinctive I’ve ever heard. Boston’s debut album remains to this day one of the best albums ever created.
Rest in peace, Brad. You are sorely missed in the world, but I truly hope you found the peace you couldn’t in life.
Fran is simply SMOKIN' that Fender ! You young kids take note, this is what talent looks like.
15yo here man and Ive been playing for 3 years now :) Btw nothing beats the classics: Queen, Boston, Led Zep, ACDC, Ozzy (Randy Rhoads is my personal favorite) and of course Metallica and GNR! Hope this comment gives you some hope for the future of music.
I should mention I play guitar not bass I didnt wanna get yall confused
+Silent phantom I play both and I'm 13
+silent phantom no one gives a shit.
+Jovin Sangha nobody asked your opinion
Bass Players to me, always seem to just fade back in a group and always looks like the bored musician in the band propped up by a broom handle...Not this Cat ! Not only can he play, and play awesome..but he's seen ROCKIN'.
This has and always will be my favorite band. When I was in High School and having one of those teenager blue mood days. In the evening I would hop in my truck. Drive the section line (4 square miles of gravel road and barbwire lined hay fields) listening to Boston full volume. By the time I got back home. My spirits were lifted and my blue mood was gone :) They still to this day... lift me up !
Can you see my post ....???
Steve Harris, Frank Bello, Geddy Lee.....
Your post did the same to me, hope you are doing well
This was one of the first bass lines I learned and it still hits my spine. I can't get through it without laughing. These were GREAT times to be in highschool.
Love your comment too. Boston does wonders for me too. I'm emotional just reading these comments ~
Killer bass lines (and moves)! ❤️
Is Fran rock n roll's first head banger? Awesome moves!
It's too bad that there is not much '76--'79 live Boston on TH-cam. Great stuff here, amazing but short-lived. Awesome song writing and performances. RIP Brad, you were One Of A Kind Incredible.
RIP Brad Delp and Sib Hashian. Amazing singer and drummer
When i'm tired i'm thinking cold i hide in my music forget all day....thank you BOSTON ❤
Brad was such a Soulful Singer may he R.I.P. Great Voice
This is legendary and needs a remastered video!!
It’s so sad that Brad Delp left us so early. His last words were that he felt lonely, but the number of people that would have given him a roof, and the clothes off their own back is in the millions .
never gets old to me! I'm in my 40's and my Dad introduced me to Boston when I was a kid. now, we go see them together every time they come to our town. it's certainly not the same without Brad Delp - fortunately i did get to see him before he passed. i've now introduced my 10 yr old daughter to them and she's a huge fan too! next concert, she's going too!
When that one riff comes in, you know which one and you see them both smiling as they harmonize. So GOOD dude
That bassist is layin it down. Pretty awesome stuff.
this is what i remeber
and how i want to remember them
just like this
The bass player in this is AMAZING!
Wtf 2023 and still not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 🤬
I agree! These guys are way better than most of those in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!!
These dudes are “plugged in”! I have always felt electrified when I hear their music/vocals/lyrics! They’re amazing!!! ❤❤❤
My love of Boston will endure my whole life! The music of my generation, my time and the centrepiece of all that is good memories of my life! I could live to 150 and still find wonder in their music! Thanks guys for all you did for the millions that danced, laughed cried ...First kiss first girlfriend .....So much tied to this music.......Long live Boston!!!!
Man, best song !!!Heard it my whole life for 20 years probly more, Im 24 lolz
Mom listens to classic rock ! :)
Damn I thought the same, i'm 26 ;)
Bass on the top!
I just love how the bass isn’t drowned out. Not many bands let the bassist be heard these days
Its simple, those guys are really enjoying what they are doing. Its called passion.
Brad Delp RIP Brother. Even gone your still better than most singers still breathing.
what a bass line and a bassist
That Bass playa' though. I'm dazzled! Love Boston.
This band ment and still means so much to so many absolutely love Boston!! Real rock and roll!
THE rock band of the 70s!
Steve Trammell Oh, I didn't know Led Zeppelin didn't exist
john smith Fair enough
+Flysouthfilms, just expressing how much I loved them. Led Zep's body of work is an encyclopedia. Boston's was a great short story.
in my opinion, a rock band of all times. who else can make guitars sing? there are times when singing stops and let's the guitars sing. in my opinion, this is a one-of-a-kind, once in history event. When making hero live shows with a band that knows how to play guitar.
Let's not forget about Thin Lizzy. Just like Boston, they were a highly talented but greatly underrated rock band. Much love to both of them!
RIP Sib. You will be missed but Boston will live on forever!
LOVE that BASS UP IN THE MIX YEAH !!!!!!!
Fran Sheehan BASS held it down. Solid dance moves bumping the Groove. What a babass.
I love that I can hear the bass lines.....very cool
That Gibson Les Paul Gold Top is shredding.
One of the most underrated bands and lead singers of all time .
Excellent bass player, great groovin, melodic. Strong.
We couldn't have the 70s and 80s without Boston. Ty Boston
It’s a shame there’s not better quality live video out there for this band from back in the day. Even with crappy quality you can hear how tight and powerful they were live.
I'm 17, I heard smokin' by Boston first whilst playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and then found other songs from these people. I dont know where these people r or upto nowadays but damn bro they are musical geniuses.
The lead singer, Brad Delp, has passed away. Don't know about the rest of the group.
@@earlbishop5136 reast easy to Brad
I Was I was 10yrs old that night. 40yrs ago?? WOW!?
One of the most underrated rock bands of all time. Beautiful singing - especially the harmonies and kick ass guitar solos! RIP Brad! You are missed! ❌⭕️
I agree. That bass player was fucking great!
I think he was the most impressive one on stage. Crankin it out and having a good time!
He's having a BALL playing those great parts!!
Tom’s harmonies with Brad gives me goosebumps.
Actually it was Barry Goodreau's harmonies with Brad. 🙂
Now this is real rock n roll!!
For sure
2020 and this song is still a banger!
My favorite Boston song. Not easy to say considering all there songs are incredible
Voice of gold
It's like mccartney/joel/guy from ambrosia
Mr bassman feeling it!!
OMG FRAN!!! Killer BASS LINES! OUTSTANDING BASS! God I miss the late 70's!
Tom wrote it all.
@@Journxy27 Yeah...But Fran killing it..!!
@@svogender For sure, he’s a great player. It’s just a shame what he and Sib tried to do to Tom.
@@Journxy27 Update me please..! 😊
@@svogender In between Dont Look Back and Third Stage CBS sued Tom because he was taking too long to do it the right way. Sib and Fran joined CBS and testified against him, in hopes of getting the name “Boston” off of him.
Bass guy's walk rules!
I'm 72, still LOVE these great bands from the past....the greatest
The bass guy was Fran Sheehan who really rocked his head in the whole song! Boston is a great rock band managed by Tom Scholz, but it is so sad that Brad Delp has gone!
Fran is smokin on this bass line!!! Amazing!!!
I rolled my car to this song in Archuleta County Colorado in 1992.
I wish i could meet these people and thank them from the bottom of my heart for the strength and inspiration they have given me, even after they were gone.
This, Amanda, More than a feeling, and Foreplay/long time are my favorite Boston songs. Such an amazing, authentic band that I wish got way more credit than it has. Also, how the heck are they not in the rock and roll hall of fame?
best song boston ever made, nothing less. And very good live rendition
Best song on GTA 5, and R. I. P. Brad Delp
My Favorite Song from Boston.. Mine. No not thinking of him with Song just Boston. The word I heard. Thats it... Yup WOW lets Compete Me NOW!! Wooo!!💪💪😆😆😆
THE GREATEST ROCK SONG OF ALL TIME
Frantic Fran is super high in the mix & killing it! A lot of peeps forget Tom was the bassist on the 1st album (great playing too btw) but Fran's energy is contagious. Great player, great band. 46 years later & EVERY SONG is still in heavy FM rotation from their debut. How many bands can say that? 🤘❤🤘
one of a kind
soooo let me get this straight, ABBA is in the rock and roll hall of fame but Boston is not? WTF people? I guess creating arguably the best ever debut rock album selling more than 17 million copies is not quite good enough but hey "dancing queen" is the shit man!
The rock and roll hall of fame is nothing short of a joke anymore. Its all money driven as everything else is. Neither disco or rap or anything else that doesnt have the word rock in it should never have been allowed to enter but thats too late so the R&R HOF is essentially no longer that and more like music hall of shame call a dog a dog please.
I thought appetite for destruction broke Boston's record
They inducted n.w.a, And that should tell you everything you need to know about the rock and roll hall of fame.
Boston should have been inducted long time ago, and Dancing Queen IS the shit also
Boston are in a league of their own. True fans wouldn’t piss on an Abba album if it was on fire.
One of the greatest bands ever to grace my ears. They truly are something else.
💥I WILL LIVE ON!🎆🌟✨🤘🤘❗
"Super Bass"+++Fran Rules!
The bass in this song rocks!!
God I wish I could go back in time and see this show
He is really good
Tom.Scholz + Brad Delp = MAGIC
And there was a special connection between Tom Scholz & Barry Goudreau live as well.
REAL talent
bass player is fired up!!!
Brad still shouting in our hearts!!
Wish there was a live with good audio quality
This will always be relevant. It was perfect in every way. Thanks for posting this.
I saw them in 96 in Cleveland, they Brad some help with the high notes, it worked out great.
Blown away!! Wow.
One of my all time favorites, just starting to understand the lyrics.
Tom pure genius Brad pure heart perfect combination add barry, fran and Syd and we have world greatness 🙌🏼
Love this song so uplifting
Quite possibly the most underrated rock band of all time. One of their most memorable songs for me personally.
Great song
