they never were a parody band. Entirely credible & overlooked. I supose like most Irish bands

Let's have it right: they were a legit band who chose to go the route of satirical band and sold themselves to RTÉ at the first possibility because they didn't believe in their own potential (which might have been for the better, in terms of publicity at least, because it's possible they'd not have gotten a tenth of the eyes on them otherwise. I think the main mistake was not breaking from RTÉ to do their own thing at a certain point and amass their own following. It worked for Francis Higgins (who, to be fair, is a legit generational comedic talent), it might've worked for them as well - it still might. In any case they should've done more tunes like this. Much as I enjoy a giggle at Liar Liar Danny Dyer, this is legit as fuck and hits like something Aphex Twin might put together - which is quite a compliment.
Also not sure I'd agree that Irish bands are overlooked - they're actually (and quite rightly, to be clear) hugely over-represented in the UK pop charts, far more so than UK-based bands; which, when you take into account the population difference, is really quite impressive. It's also no surprise, being that the Irish more than any other group have consistently contributed to Western culture in all avenues. They'll never get the credit for it but they built most of it. We can certainly agree that the Bandits should be better known, though.
