At the end of part 1 of 0.8 Frisk was just knocked out after XGaster used his hand blade to take a power from them. We don’t know what the ability is since it was never really named, it isn’t determination though since XGaster had access to it in the past and thought it was underwhelming so he has no reason to take it again. Also if you really think about it, since Chara is a ghost they are in a way still linked to Frisk’s soul, if Frisk was killed they wouldn’t be able to get the soul back because they aren’t alive.
