    Rus you're getting really good with that macro lens! Adds a whole new dimension to your already outstanding videos. Thanks for this update, we've been keeping a close eye on their progress and maybe (just maybe) I can talk Toni into keeping a few.

    Been loving this series! I occasionally find a larvae, but haven't taken the initiative to raise it up, definitely want to if you're able to successfully pupate them! Definitely interested in meeting up and buying a few off you in the future, I'd love to have a larger colony of them!

    You might be able to do deep substrate with the bottom layer moist and the top dry and heat the bottom for the babies

    • @Aquarimax

      I basically did keep the bottom moist and top dry, but just used a separate incubator for the babies. That worked well!

    I love watching the progress. I had some eggs but I don't think the substrate was moist enough. Now it is deeper and moister so I hope round 2 goes further. What incubator are you looking at and why, if you don't mind me asking. As always; another excellent video!

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MickieM Best of luck with round 2 👍 I decided to get a Hovabator, intended for reptiles, based on reviews and a recommendation from Wally of Supreme Gecko...he has used a lot of incubators over the years and says the hovabator is his go-to.

    I love Blue Death-Feigning Beetles so cool! would you recommend them for an intermediate pet/insect keeper? Also, my super worms also squirt water or whatever it is when I pick them up to feed to my pets.

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Quick question about mourning geckos
    Do I need to feed them insects? Also does it need to be bioactive?

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ZenoNax While they appreciate insects in the diet, they can do fine with just crested gecko diet, especially if it is a formulation that contains insects. The enclosure does not need to be bioactive...but bioactive is less work in the long run. 👍

    I’m excited for pupation! Are you surprised by how long they’re taking to pupate? Their look and behavior remind me so much of super worms - I wonder if they would eat chicken food, like super worms or mealworms do. I put chicken grower crumbles and rolled oats in the blender, and grind them to a powder. I use that for worm bedding. I’ve also noticed that my feeder worms will grow and pupate faster if I keep humidity up (just some water crystals on a paper towel) and temps at 80-85. Is it different with these since they’re a desert beetle?

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make It Kate I am excited too, and yes, somewhat surprised by how long it has taken so far...it may be partly the cooler temperatures this time of year. I bet they would eat the ground food you describe...they seem to be pretty interested in most foods. These do require a decent amount of humidity and warm temps -80-90 F for pupation, so very similar t super worms in that respect as well. 👍

    Could you please help, my daughter is a new axalotal owner. The shop told her to keep them at 25c, but all the information we have read said they are cold water and get stressed at that sort of temperature. Please please help us we are so confused.

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Armenestra Patey happy to help. Axolotls thrive in cool water. 25 C is too warm long-term for a healthy axolotl. Aim for somewhere between 18 and no higher than 23 C. Even a bit cooler than that is fine. We keep our Axolotl at cool temperatures as it just described, and it has done well for us.

    I have 16 beetles in a setup similar to yours. I hope I can get larvae soon.
    Any tips? I have them in a coir and sand mixture and I have been lightly watering one corner of the 10 gallon terrarium.

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jaden Peterson I hope you get larvae too! What is the ambient temperature and light cycle in your enclosure, and how deep is your substrate?

    • @jadenpeterson4881
      @jadenpeterson4881 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aquarimax Pets currently temps go from 67F at night to around 76F during the day. Should it get warmer than that? The lights are unfortunately only on for 8 hrs a day due to light pollution interfering with sleep ( I work nights). The substrate is about 2 inches deep on the dry side and 4 inches on the side that I add water to. I feed them carrots, mealworms, cheap fish food, and a grain based diet for roaches with human grade ingredients. Just curious, what brands of dried river shrimp would you recommend? I have always used fresh killed food but have heard the beetles like dry forms of protein.
      Do you bury whole carrots, shreds, or baby carrots? Do you ever have problems with mold?
      Okay that’s enough questions for now. Thank you for getting back to me.

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jaden Peterson longer lighting may help to help with breeding, but see what you can get with 8 hours...sleep is important! I think the temps are ok. Substrate sounds suitable as well. In my breeding enclosure i try to keep one side always slightly moist underneath, drier on top. Your feeding sounds good. I offer chopped baby carrots, and some,times bury some. I am currently using the Zilla river shrimp. 👍 best of luck with yours!
