@@edgarvinicius1765 ummmm no, Chromatica is definitely great. Rain on me and Sine from Above are gems in that album. But Folklore is a different LEVELS🥰
@@mati.p172 i love chromatica, but folklore is so interesting, is not the kind of music that you can expet from a "pop" artist like Taylor Swift, every single song is so poetic
@@sarahrybak1920 this song is all about insecurity and hope in spite of it, I think that here the "courage" is the bravery to keep one's "conviction" - that is, the strong belief in one's own choices. But it's hard to stick to your decisions, your "convictions", when you're worried about dangers and possible issues, and that's what the narrator is saying at the start of the song.
When she said “would it be enough if i could never give you peace?” She’s referring to how she can never put a pause to all the hectic things going on (and is around the corner) in her life as a celebrity for her significant other to feel like Taylor and him are at peace. But she’d do anything and everything for her significant other, however, peace is something very difficult to give. (If we look at all the things Taylor had gone through these past few years)
I agree. Peace instantly stood out to me. I feel bad for all the people who have only heard a couple pop songs of hers and decided she’s not for them. They’re missing out on a lot! They’re missing out on one of the greatest song writers of all time.
According to Aaron Dessner who co-wrote most of folklore, Taylor recorded “Peace” in just one take and this is that version we hear! Maybe that’s another reason why she compared this album to her son Sad, Beautiful, Tragic on Red in which she also recorded in one take.
@Tyren Leahey In the TH-cam live chat before the premier for Cardigan, where she talked about a few other things as well (like the love triangle songs).
When I first heard Lover, I didn’t think I could love a song more, never thought she’d come up with a better love song, because to me, it was the ultimate love song, until this. It’s real and raw and it shows us her vulnerability. This album is her.
“Give you my wild, give you a child” is such a beautiful line. I can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve never thought about having a baby with someone as “giving them a child”. To me, that almost sounds like the person doesn’t want to have kids, but they love the other person so much that they’d give them anything.
It's crazy how she predicted how the relationship will end. How she knows that she can give Joe all the love she have but it still wouldn't be enough for him as he wants peace ( a life which is not all over the media) peaceful life.
I think this song is all about telling joe about her deep fears. And wishing and asking if its enough. Her love is enough. Joe is a lucky man. Taylor too.
Definitely they are talking of getting married. I also think she might be pregnant. This song references having a child, and then another song on this album has the lyric "Baby with me". She's also wearing a very loose nightgown in yet another video. The sunlight streams through it and there's a slight outline of a tummy.
I mean I think she proves she’s so much more than a pop singer.... she IS an artist. The truest form of the word. Not just a writer, not just a singer, or musician, or visual artist, but all of them together. Just an artist. Purely. Whether anyone likes her as a person or celebrity, or whatever, I can’t imagine anyone actually getting into her music and all the visuals and lyrics and not seeing her as a genius creative. One of the most creative artists of all time imo. Her writing is 😚👌🏼 . Lol I write poetry and creative nonfiction, obviously no where near Taylor lol, and the first time I heard My Tears Ricochet I literally said, “Holy shit.” out loud after the end of the first chorus 😂. She’s just such a wordsmith; it’s insane. Edited for typo
@@speeeee35Honestly I feel like Taylor is one of those very few artists in the music industry whose passion for music never lessens. She was destined to be a singer, songwriter etc. Like she has exactly the same amount of passion which she had in the beginning of her career, 14 years ago. Unlike other artists like JB( no offence) who have a couple of BOPs and then take advantage of their fame and money. They forget the reason of their fame. Taylor has never even digressed from her path and that's why she is definitely the greatest songwriter I have seen in my entire life.
I relate to this song so much! About six months from my wedding date, I was diagnosed with cancer. We had to postpone our wedding as I had to go through tons of chemo, surgeries and radiation. My husband didn’t run. He has remained by my side through it all. It’s stage IV so it’s terminal. We end up at the hospital more often than anyone should. I can give him everything I have, but I can never give him peace. Cancer lives in me and it’s always just around the corner. 14 years of battling cancer is exhausting, not only for the patient, but for the entire family as well.
"Robbers to the East." Taylor's NYC apartment being broken in. "Clowns in the West." Kanye West and KKW. "No, I could never give you peace." Taylor's life and Joe always worrying about her!
Jessie Wesselmann it could also be Tayler telling Joe she can’t ever give him peace because she has had to deal with the robbers, the haters, the media and all that has happened to her. So she is asking him is she still enough even if she can’t bring that peace and quiet he cherishes. I think the song was more about hoping she and her crazy life was still enough for him.
Stop with the pregnancy, she's obviously not pregnant she's just proving a point.. she can give his man everything like her time, friendship, take his family as hers, a child, but she'll never be in peace because of her career and that's important because he'll be dragged too, that's why she asks if I'll be enough. Its friggin beautiful I'm crying so hard.
Yess..she once said she wanted to have ciwyw's bridge to be about having child with him but bcs of those dummies who assume that she is already preg she didn't want to do so
the fact that Taylor actually wants to become a mother but because of her career choice she's always busy and her life is planned years ahead of it's time so she can't
@@rubyj9497 I think this song is from Joe's perspective. Like may be joe wants to have a child with Taylor or marry her but Taylor doesn't thinks the same way . So she's telling him that may be if we were normal I could give you what you wanted but my life is different so if u stay with me I can never give you what u want or peace
the way her voice lightly changed when she sung "give you a child" was absolutely beautiful. because carrying and bearing a child is one of the hardest things a woman can do and the fact she would do it for her husband (and herself of course) is a gift of love.
Update: 2023 There is someone now who can finally accept the fact that she can never give him peace. Take care of her, Travis. Don't mind the chaos; you can be each other's peace🥺♡

Remember when people bullied her for writing ME! with "childish" lyrics and mainstream music and now she released an album with the most poetic lyrics among all of her works, I think
The guitar on this is absolutely everything. Funny how the song is called Peace and it really is peaceful. Music like this really just takes me to another place. I love this album. It’s an instant classic and that’s hard to say about albums when they first come out.
it’s actually a bass, which is layered, no one really does that in music, and i think it makes this song a lot more special. the layered bass + the lyrics = perfection
GUYS GUYS THROUGH OUT THE SONG THE BEEPING SOUND IS CONSTANT. THE MUSIC IS PEACEFUL AND SO IS HER VOICE BUT THE BEEING SOUND CREATES A FEELING OF ANXIETY THUS CONFIRMING WHAT TAYLOR SAID, "I could never give you peace" P.S. sorry for the caps 😭
This right here is realistic love and passion, it’s all hard work, it’s not a magical story or a fantasy, it’s hard to acquire, it’s hard to maintain, but it’s always worth fighting for

This song made me feel really bad for her, having the guilt of bringing stalkers, crazed fans, and not having the freedom to go anywhere to a relationship. She must feel horrible bringing Joe into that. It's something I never thought about

look guys, can we stop trying to throw out rumors like saying she's pregnant just because she is in a private relationship? because i really think she should have some peace. And lets not try to get details out of her relationship. its her relationship. lets stay out of it.
i hate when people say taylor is overrated, she’s not. yes, she’s well known, but she’s only really know for the people that find her lyrics deep and beautiful. yes, her songs are for everyone to hear, but only few relate or understand the meaning behind her lyrics.
"but the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me" This made me really sad. All her past relationships have been destroyed by the media and here she's still scared that media will ruin what she has with Joe BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS DO and rain will always come. I hope it doesn't happen this time. I hope she can give him peace.
@@champagne483 it's an idiom it means that a mysterious element is hidden in the details. something that might seem simple at first glance but is actually very complicated and dark. She is telling him that she might appear to be normal but she's a complex mess in reality. However no matter how much of a wreck she is, she will always be by his side just like a true friend would
I usually don't cry listening to any song. But this one hits hard. Knowing that you can give everything to your partner but peace is so heartbreaking. I just want Taylor to be happy with joe. Cause they both deserve it.
Singing this and addressing it to yourself can literally give you peace of mind. Like I'll try my best to take care of me, be my own friend, and not talk shit about myself. Idk how else to explain it other than its almost like acceptance of yourself as a person that deserves to be loved.
Peace is my favorite, and I feel like that’s a little unpopular. It makes me think about how I’ve let traumatic events dictate how I view my purpose and my place. I’m my biggest cheerleader, telling myself that if I got through THAT, I can get through anything but deep down I’m prolonging my recovery because I’m afraid of who I might be without my issues. My anxiety. My shame. What if I’m just a bad, flawed person and these labels I use as excuses, reasons, are just core flaws of mine? What if I do everything to get better and there’s still something missing? What if I’m just destined for pain? I can deal with this paper-cut pain, that I’ve carried with me day after day, month after month, but putting on bandages feels like just another way of exposing myself to a bullet. I can take the continuous pounding, but no more big storms. I “keep my brittle heart warm” but I’m my own “cascade ocean wave blues” that come. I have been happy and grown and loved people and had them love me back, more than I could have ever imagined. But I’m so afraid of reaching for more. I can never give me peace.
I know what you mean. I went through the same thing. I was scared of being happy, I didn't know what it felt like and it was weird for a while. But I learned that you can't forget about anxiety and depression. You have to co-exist with it. I tried to forget about all my problems and pretend they weren't real. I had to accept that I was depressed, I had to accept my whole life. Acknowledge that I went through some pretty bad stuff to move on. The anxiety hasn't left me but I am more at peace with it. I feel so much better these days. I hope this helps you
Its like you climbed right into my brain and put it into poetry. Listening to this album makes me stop and think about myself for a moment and not just everything around me. The songs at first just sounded the same and just sad but now they have allowed me to think more than ever. I think about how I am one little piece in this world and that every little thing I do changes something else. I think about how there is never peace in the world. There is always something going on but it is what we do to deal with it that makes it worth having no peace. It's like you're always on the edge but nothings ever perfect. We have to stop and look back for a moment and realize that we are important. No matter what anyone else thinks we can get through it.
This year has brought out a new and ugly side of myself that I have never seen before, but always knew was there. And I keep thinking that if I ignore it, it'll go away. And it keeps not going away. And if I talk about it with people I judge myself for it. And now, is that who they think I am? And is this who I have to be now? And slowly but surely I have stopped talking to everybody in my life because this is all I can think about anymore and I don't want them to know or see this part of me. And I can never have peace.
I know this song was written about her life in the spotlight, but as someone who struggles with depression I feel like this is an accurate representation about how someone with mental illness loves.

A year of the most underrated masterpiece off folklore: peace
Ikr😭

“The rain is always gonna come if you’re standing with me.”
My favorite lyric on this song.
For some reason, I always think of "Rain came pouring down, when I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe."
Hits me everytime😭😭
According to Aaron Dessner who co-wrote most of folklore, Taylor recorded “Peace” in just one take and this is that version we hear! Maybe that’s another reason why she compared this album to her son Sad, Beautiful, Tragic on Red in which she also recorded in one take.

Trademark these words before someone takes them. They're poetry.
💜
Wow...
