    You can do this in Eevee if you assign the different mats to separate instances of your grid primative. So Grid -> Set Mat -> Geometry to Instance -> Instance socket in Instance on points.

    Absolutely loving these tutorials!! But I do have a question. The 2 shaders (coloured and non-coloured) are randomly swaping places during the animation. So sometimes there are 5 orange slabs and then there will be only 1 on the next frame. Was this supposed to happen? AND how do I make them stay constant throughout the animation?
    This could be a silly question but it's driving me crazy trying to understand what's happening.

      @@realhost5062😂 thanks thanks! I first tried to see if I could add a keyframe to any node in the materials but obviously that didn't work. Cluster it up. I am currently building one. I have about 15 oldish old office PCs with an I5, one is slow and shit. 15 though...yeah they rip. 15x 4cores 60 freaking cores for free as the company i took them from was just chugging them in the bin anyway. Its a bit work though and you need to be friends with the IT guy.
      Not only much much cheaper but also as those POS tiny pcs can take up to 32 gigs i can render scenes that only 10k+ beast pcs can even begin to render and that in a reasonable time. Considering the cost of cables, power, switch etc is about 250 bucks there really isn't much else that comes close to it bang for the buck wise.

    • @TheDucky3D

      @@TheDucky3D and there is more! I've rendered the animation sequence in Cycles, and something was off. First thought was there are the mpeg artifacts, so I've digged through separate frames (rendered as PNG's before so I put them in VSE in separate project) and noticed that the noice texture (on grey stripes) is shaking as the stripes wave.
      Not that critical because its an animation so you dont pay much attention, but still, is there a way to avoid this?

      Re: Render Preview not matching: The Bevel modifier will change the Random Per Island value, so since I had my bevel off in Viewport, it was different in Render. Think that is the core of my issue here! Turn the bevel back on when you finish the animation and do the shading!

    Hi all, I changed my direction on the empty to Y-axis. It keeps the right amount of bars, right up to 180 degrees and then it gets random. It has to do with the math behind the texture ( but I can't explain it) Anyone else seen this? And a fix for it?

    • @barobaparthoens7887
      @barobaparthoens7887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To answer my own question: A very important rigging tip: This is something you can do in every software package ( Blender, Modo, Maya, C4d...) You need to normalize values. What does normalize mean? A lot of values in software come in different formats ( degrees, radiants, mm's, inches (both in the + and - range) ) and you need to scale them all to a range of 0-1. If something goes outside of this range, it can flip or give unexpected results. This is what happened to me ( and others)
      My Solution: In the shading editor, you need to add a clamp in between the logic that drives the Fac. Between the noise-texture and the color-ramp. The min-value for the Clamp should be 0.5 and the max should be at 1. Effectively clamping off the part that goes bad.
      To be more correct you should use a Map Range node. But I haven't used that one yet. Maybe a tip for a next tutorials @ducky3D ?
