Great video. I collected the 1992 set when I was a kid, but I missed the 2016 release. I bought a base set in the aftermarket, but there's nothing like opening packs and seeing new art for the first time. I bought a few blaster boxes of XL and seeing the art at this size has made me fall in love with it again. I really enjoy your straightforward video style. You just got a new subscriber
Glad you had a chance to watch! It was a great box, lots of fun to open. I was fortunate to have my preorder arrive the day after release and I don’t put much effort into quality edits. 😅
My thinking is that the set would be better from the start if UD had involved Joe. I saw a recent update that Joe and Upper Deck may have worked out an agreement which would be great for both parties. Ultimately I'm glad that more people are getting to see the amazing pieces for this set, but there is plenty of room for improvement if they apply the formula to another one.
I didn't really see anything that stood out to me in it. I thought the Medusa and Ultron cards were probably the best looking, but with just ten packs you didn't get much variety - a lot of doubling of the art, just different variants. That last pack in particular struck me as a pretty poor pack to get, as you got two Rogues in it. Good video though, as always.
Thanks for checking it out! I did get several repeats of the same character, which is a bit of a bummer for an expensive product. Looking at my stack I had 5 characters that I got two different variants of. 3 of them are the Base and What If of cards 43, 44, 45.
It's going to be interesting to see how the market and collectors receive it, and where box prices go from here. My guess is that box prices drift down but you never know.
I had seen mention of that but don't know the details about it. What I do know is that the set would be better with his participation! He put so much care and time into the 2016 release, including a bunch of pack-inserted sketch cards. And thousands of autos.
I think it's a cool set, but i would never pay $300+ for a box. that's $10 per card. it would be cool if they re-released the set in normal size. i had no idea these cards even existed. i think the only new marvel cards is marvel beginnings series 2 set 2, which is just full of D list heroes nobody cares about.
These big cards are PERFECT for framing! The art is so incredible! Thanks for showing us!
Yeah that is a nice benefit of the format, any standard 5x7 supplies and frames will work.

Thank you! I'm glad you found this new XL set and were able to enjoy it.
There are semi rigid card protectors for over sized cards. I found some at a comic shop & on Amazon.
Very nice set ! We open 4 box and the cards have amazing artwork ❤
I like how these are very reminiscent of the 1994 Fleer Marvel Masterpieces. Especially those holos
Thanks for sharing and awesome pulls with Wolverine and Iron Man! I appreciate the comparison of the original card, 5x7, and the IDW book.
You're welcome, thanks for sharing yours as well, I enjoyed your video. You had your break up quickly!

these look awesome! def wanna grab a box… thx for sharing!
Good luck if you pick one up!
@@icollectthings thx bud!
Congrats on the hits!!
Thank you!
I love the jumob/oversize cards.
Also love that art on the Hawkeye.
The Hawkeye is great, I especially like the viewpoint and the background.
@icollectthings hawkeye is my favorite and yes the image is awesome. I just wish this stuff wasn't so expensive.
Thanks for sharing! Awesome set. If only it wasn't $10+ per random card I'd break some.
The Battle Spectrum and Holofoils look amazing!
I think so too, it's fun to see those treatments extra large. I'd love to see a Battle Spectrum Gem XL in person.
How do you feel about this set since Joe came out and said he doesn’t support this project because he isn’t getting any royalties or payments from it?

@@icollectthings Glad they are willing to work with the artist, when I found that out I wasn’t too eager to pick these up, great video!
Ive seen these cards on ebay I think only popular characters are selling.

@@icollectthings That's a bit of a shame, yeah. I feel like at this size format they'd make a good cheap mini-poster set instead of a premium set.
I passed on these. I’m not sure about the resell value of the 5X7 card format.

Kinda a bummer they didn’t even notify Jusko this set was coming out..

Looks like a lot of print roller scratches. Imagine these cards will be near impossible to Gem.
Yeah I think you are correct, the print lines are going to make it difficult. If I choose to send any off definitely doing CGC for this set.
