Kroger is a supermarket. Almacen means warehouse. Two different things.

Could it be like a dialect difference or something? I was taught almacén for grocery store too (South American teacher), depósito for warehouse

Oh this just encouraged me as a English speaking Mom. My son is currently learning Spanish in 2nd grade (full immersion). Your teaching style would be perfect for him. He can read Spanish well but struggle with comprehension and some writing. Came across your video while looking for ways to learn myself and ways to help him. You’re and amazing teacher, keep it up. Wish you were teaching at his school.

This was a fantastic example of CI and circling! As someone who just took some Spanish in high school (and then said never again, went on to learn another language instead) I actually got something from it :)

Love it ! One thing, we need to make an effot pronouncing those "r's" correctly and as close to native pronunciation as we can. I have americanized my pronunciation and Im trying to get my native accent back. I have noticed students do not understand when you pronounce the words correctly but when you change your accent a little bit to american accent they understand much better and it should not be. We want them to understtand native speakers.

I feel you're the best person to ask. I know so much of Spanish, French and Italian. I can read anything in front of me. The natives understand my every word. My trouble is understanding the natives talk in films and etc. I use the subtitles in THEIR languages, never English. It all makes sense when the subtitles are on. They correspond to the sound of the words fully. When I remove subtitles, it becomes a blur again. I've had this problem for years. Except face to face. The natives adjust their speech so that I get it. I'm from Britain and the natives say that despite my half English/half Spanish accent, they totally understand me.

hello! As a fellow gringo in the exact same boat, I will describe what has helped me!
I went to Spain for 2 weeks and understood basically nothing for 4 days but afterward it just clicked and I met my best friend in the world.
This inspired me to improve my Spanish as much as possible.
-First: learn exactly how things were pronounced differently. I imagine after learning three different languages you should be familiar with the IPA but learn how exactly each sound is pronounced. It is not important to reproduce these but more so that these sounds will have a specific place in your brain and will be less approximate.
-Second: listen. I struggled a lot talking with my friend in a group of his friends. I embarrassed myself and remained quiet. TH-cam I think is the best solution. The problem is really finding things you're interested in. If you have a Spanish friend with even marginally similar interests, your recommendations will get a lot better. This recommendations should also be in the target accent!! Eventually after a day or so of watching someone's content, I decided I understood them enough to take off the subtitles. TH-cam will teach you jokes and memes and colloquialisms which will help a lot with real Spanish speaking people. Another thing that helped was me asking my friend to put whatever Spanish song he was listening to in a playlist and share it with me.
After maybe a week of Spanish TH-cam for maybe an hour a day, I was able to converse in the group and honestly every other situation is easier than that.

I started listening to Spanish spoken in a programme called "Hotel de los Secretos" with my eyes shut. Eventually, I understood several of the sentences without their Spanish subtitle. Then I watched a totally different video with a different Spanish accent and it was more tricky.

@@davidmacdonald9159 what you said is true about the listening. I've never put myself through intensive listening before. Just given up too easily. This time, I persevered and it took a few nights of listening to it for an hour.

Is not correct when she writes "Qué significa", it means the "concept" so, It would be better make the student look for this "word" in the Dictionary. Images are very helpful resources when Teaching new "words". So, she would have some pictures of "warehouses" or "almacenes". Just a suggestion to make better the learning of the Student and understand better than only "listening" teaching. As we have different kind of learners, we must use many resources when teaching.
