The monetary crisis that hit Indonesia since the beginning of July 1997, meanwhile, has lasted for almost two years and has turned into an economic crisis, namely the paralysis of economic activity due to more and more companies closing down and the increasing number of unemployed workers. Indeed, this crisis was not entirely caused by the monetary crisis alone, because in part it was exacerbated by various national disasters that came repeatedly in the midst of economic difficulties such as rice harvest failures in many places due to the long and worst dry season in the last 50 years, pests, massive forest fires in Kalimantan and riots that hit many cities. Moreover, July 1997 was the starting point for a crisis of confidence in the Indonesian government at that time.
