    It's a real move of the "ankle breaker" in basketball, using crossover consfering opponent's weight. But Akashi did it in a rediculous way.

    • @lefcso
      @lefcso ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Well, in theory you could do it every single time like he does if you see the future and you know how to move to achive it I guess

    • @abhabh6896
      @abhabh6896 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@lefcso yes, but he can do it only if he has enough space to move as he wants. once he is in, he can't do it.

    Akashi is the definition of being that guy

  • @anteletica1148

    akashi basically has a really good knowledge of the human physique. By watching really small movements people make he can use that to predict them. And he dribbles at the moment where people shift their body weight and uses their momentum to make them trip. It sometimes happens in real basektball, but akashi can make it happen with more precision and better dribble timing. In the manga they go really in depth about how his eyes work in a more realistic way. The anime makes it seem a bit more supernatural (like a lot of other ablilities too).

      Even without the manga, it's still possible to understand how it works.
      Also Kagami also did something similar against Aomine once, to read his body to figure out he couldn't win yet.
      Yet the king of this is still Akashi.

  • @sj-tt5tf
    @sj-tt5tf ปีที่แล้ว +21

    I think you said it right, he’s very observant and predicts other players movements. The way the show describes it seems very superhuman. It comes off that he has this power to see into the future where in reality he’s just making a split second reaction based on small movements he sees

    I’ll never get over the fact how wild it is that he made kagami drop just like that, Akashi is HIM

    In real life Akashi's basically has just really good basketball IQ and good reaction time he can read plays before it happens, see how his opponents reacts to his moves, what the defense is giving him.

    An ankle breaker is an actual high level technique that basketball players do IRL. I just want to share and also to help explain.
    When a player is running around with the ball, they have to throw the ball to the ground and let it go back to their hand. That is called "dribbling". You cannot move around with the ball without dribbling it because it is against the rules.
    When a player changes direction while dribbling; they do this by momentarily stopping or by changing the hand that they are using to dribble the ball. This is called a "crossover", because you crosses the ball over to your other hand, allowing you to cross over into the direction you want. (e.g. you are dribbling using your right hand while going to the right direction, you can change directions going to the left by changing into your left hand to dribble.)
    Now an "ankle breaker" occurs, when the crossover and dribbling happens so quick that the defender cannot physically keep up with the change of direction, and they looses balance trying to keep up with the ball handler. This may also happen by doing some sophisticated dribbling and crossover that are confusing enough to throw the defender off balance.
    In akashi's case, it is said that his eyes can see the future or predict it in a certain degree. He utilizes this by predicting the direction on which his defender will move, then he immediately crossovers to the opposite direction, and would throw the defender off balance.
    Side note: IRL, people also use ankle breakers to embarrass, humiliate, or disrespect their opponents, because not only did they passed you, they also made you fall on your ass or on your knees.

    Also love that the tsundere midorima gets some character development in this match 😂

    The emperors eye sees "everything", in this instance your breathing, your eye movement, your muscles tensing up, there is no mind games and trickity trick, you can fake your passing intentions but you can't fake your fingers tensing up to still grab hold of the ball while faking attempting the pass. Your body cant lie, and Akashi sees that. Akashi times his crossover(basketball move) the moment the opponents muscle tenses up to generate movement in one direction then he switches to the opposite direction wrong footing the opponent causing them to lose their balance(it happens in IRL games, but it is never as intentional as it portrayed in the anime).

    Midorima is a weird guy, but a solid teammate.

    I love akashi's dribbling, that uses balance, these eyes are basically the eyes of a very experienced basketball player whor pays a lot of attention to detail and thinks fast, even akashi plays a lot shogi. Which is a game of strategy and prediction by the movements of your enemy. We can even say that we have this ability. It just doesn't reach his level, that he has everything to be like that.
    An aerial elbow pass? Creator (jason williams)
    Posdata" great reaction as always!! 👍

    15:57 he doesnt study players before hands, he's just very perceptive and can just see how there muscles twitch or smth like that, it's pretty ridiculous but they had an explanation for it in the manga i think it's not straight up seeing the future but has the same result in practice.

    It's not exactly true that Akashi is able to read the future, it's more accurate to say that his Emperor Eye allows him to read very minute movement in his opponents. Combined with his basketball experience, he's able to efficiently choose the best course of action against them. The manga explained his power much better than the anime did, unfortunately.

    0:27 I started participating in MMA tournaments and everyone wants to go first some fighters will negotiate a deal where they lose a cut of their earnings just so they would go first, when you sit and watch people fight before you, you start to overthink it and get in your head, especially if something bad happens, and some stay in the changing rooms to not watch the fights.

    Also he's not pushing them down they fall because of the change of pace and direction, it's an ankle breaker one of the hardest things to do in hoop make your opponent drop out of pure skill. That's why it looked goofy with Akashi doing it back to back to back to back like wtf.

    My theory... During teiko, aomine is the strongest miracle, that's why akashi ordered Kuroko to pass all the ball to aomine to lose interest in practice, so akashi limit the interest of aomine to not get stronger because he is getting stronger , if aomine continues to practice akashi knew if aomine will practice and will reach his full potential... Aomine is unlimited if he continue practicing during teiko until present time

    Did you ever play catch or something. Like trying to to chase someone and then suddenly the person you're chasing changes direction and you try to do the same but your feet can't keep up so you trip?
    It's basically that, but he can do it whenever he wants basically.
