Ted Dibiase jr was going to make a bit of a wrestling comeback a few years ago. I know this because he was supposed to appear for a local promotion in Scotland that his father was friendly with. For whatever reason it didn't end up happening.
I always found it weird that WWE just called him "Ted DiBiase" without the Jr. attached to his name, and when referencing his dad back when Jr. was there they'd only refer to him as the Million Dollar Man.
Could be something weird with the rights or something, hulk hogan and wwe had a contract with marvel to not call him “hulk” “the hulk” or refer to him as “incredible” and not dress him in purple or green.
Vince K. McMahon is a Jr., and he hates being called Jr. to the point that he doesn't let his wrestlers use Jr. at the end of their names. This is why Rey Mysterio never went by Rey Mysterio Jr. in the WWE like he did WCW.
I grew up a massive Legacy fan. And as time went on, I accepted a basketball scholarship at a Division I school in Mississippi. I was going through a tough time due to the loss of my grandmother at the start of the school year and I wasn’t able to start actually playing for the school just yet. My coach was close with Ted because they were from the same outside of Jackson. So he gave Ted my number knowing I’m a huge wrestling fan. I respect anyone who gets into a wrestling ring but you see that his heart wasn’t in wrestling and after seeing his job after WWE you can see where his heart is.
After Ted was left to fend for himself, he could’ve gone on the mic to solidify himself as a babyface by rooting for Cody’s success on SmackDown while also staying humble and choosing to not declare himself as a potential contender for the world championship just yet as he has a long road ahead of him. He could’ve received the money from his father albeit begrudgingly and picks a few insignificant wins here and there and comes close to being a contender for the US Championship but is unsuccessful. He’s consistently looking at his bank account and you can see the cogs turning in his head as he tries to stay on the straight and narrow with his father making it harder week after week until he eventually embraces the heel turn to win either the tag team championship or the US. His aggression and ego are only growing as he attacks people backstage and even puts hits out against his opponents to injure them.
He's one of the few I randomly remember every so often. Was on pretty constantly when I really started watching. Most everyone who was newer or lower down the line from then moved up tremendously (like probably most of them) but he just fell off so hard
Ted was kind of underrated in the ring, even Bryan Danielson said he was great. Too bad he really couldn’t connect with the audience and never got to seize his full potential.
The most memorable thing I remember him for was he was in the buildup to 2010 money in the bank match where Maryse got extremely pissed off when he said the new million dollar couple is me and that briefcase. Only for her to eventually climb a ladder in the match and be helped out by the person she was feuding with at the time john Morrison. And ted DiBiase was mad She didn't get the briefcase.
I think after the triple threat loss they should have given Ted a new character to work. Instead of going back to “im great cuz my dad” he could have started his own path, “be my own man” kinda thing. Would have been a cool story to follow i think
You missed the part where his face turn after losing Virgil and the future "Mrs. Miz" Maryse (yes, she valet'd for Ted Jr.) was him doing parking lot parties and calling it "The DiBiasse posse", and at one point had a feud with Jinder Mahal off of that.

One thing with ted is he always was stuck with his dad's gimmick essentially. From the debut but also in legacy. Cody was very different from his father and brother while in legacy so them bringing it up didn't hurt Cody, but for ted he was still a heel using money to fund their plans (i swear i remember ted paying off randy's fines and bail money). Ted always was just a young rich kid that threw his money around. I think they should have hyped it up as "the best money could buy" where his dad paid for the best training in different fields so that his son was the perfect athlete. I am thinking villain batman here where Ted always has a way to counter people's skills because he trained agianst the best luchadors, giants, brawlers, etc.
Certain second generation superstars are setup to fail day one, their parents are just so massive in the history that they have an insane hill to climb, that’s why Charlotte and Cody are significantly more impressive than everyone else on the list
True but I also dont think all are set to fail. Sometimes its up to the actual 2nd generation star to do something notable or change their own trajectory. Kinda how Cody would’ve fizzled out if he had never asked for his release and became an indy star
No? If they were set to fail, then there wouldn’t be people like Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Bret Hart, Davey Boy Smith Jr, Eddie Guerrero, Chaco Guerrero, Roman Reigns, The Rock, Curt Hennig, Natalya, Bray Wyatt, and Charlotte Flair who either exceeded their fathers or carved out their own legacies in this business. He’ll probably definitely more. Dominic Mysterio is doing well. It’ll get them through the door, but it’s gonna take a lot of shit to keep them there.

Too bad Ted DiBiase didn't fail in WWE. He had a newborn Son and he chose being a father was more important than being on the road for years on end missing out on his son growing up.
I remember in 2010 being online EVERYONE was predicting that Ted DiBiase was going to win the Royal Rumble and then face Orton for the wwe title at wrestlemania. Even as a 11 year old I knew that wasn’t going to happen
hot take but i enjoyed ted dibiase's work. I'm not sure if wwe just didnt use him properly or my guy was lacking the motivation for it but he could've been great imo.
Ted DiBiase Jr and Cody Rhodes should have feuded on SmackDown over the Intercontinental Championship instead of being left in the midcard of Raw without a proper rival.
Ted was not a failure. WWE just used him wrong. Bo Dallas is not 2nd generation. Bo Dallas father is IRS. Uncle is Barry Windham. Grandpa is Blackjack Mulligan
By saying "WWE used him wrong", we can make an argument that every person who never made it to the main event only didn't do so because WWE used them wrong. Imo he just wasn't cut out for the main event like Cody and Randy, we saw flashes of Cody's monumental potential even in the early days with some of his gimmicks
@Wrestleology to a point, you are correct. Then again, if they had gone with his own character, it might have been different. They tried to make him Million Dollar Man Jr. Only one character can play him. Did they make IRS sons (Bray and Bo) into IRS jr?

@@Rebelheart1985 the majority of stars you named their parents weren’t the top of the food chain, that’s why I said Charlotte and Cody are so impressive that their parents were the top of the top and they managed to surpass them
@@Wrestleology the expectation for Ted was being as big if not bigger than the freakin million dollar man, you’re talking about the top .1% of the industry compared to being the son/daughter of a mid carder, that’s why people like Charlotte and Cody are very impressive their parents were SUPERSTARS and they are on that level
@@allenownz roman actually had it the hardest, because it wasn't even just his dad, he had the rock that was shadowing him, and they gave him a bad gimmick
Vince's fit at 3:22 is wild. white button down shirt tucked into khaki pants, rolled up sleeves and top 3 buttons undone
Lmfaooo
Great channel 💯
Thank you so much fam 🫶🏼
Crime time was the best . They brought the hood to you
Ted didn’t become a failure to WWE or didn’t fail at all. He wanted to be father and husband to his family and wanted to be there for them then to travel the country, not seeing his family. I respect the man because he’s humble, and he knew that not all money. Is worth it. Just take a look at other super stars.. they can make $150k and up and they still think it’s not enough.
“Not all money is worth it” lmao how ironic
he's the only one in the group thats forgotten to this day. and he's not a very good talker in the mic,too.. he failed!
@@adden2242 😂 after legacy Ted Diabiase Jr was an afterthought
Ted jr should've been face and continue his feud against Randy.
Yeah exactly
Even wwe wanted ted to stay.. But he didn't want he request his release
Great Content bro🔥
Thank you brotha 🫶🏼
He didn't fail. He just wasn't legendary. He was solid.
This. I always felt bad for Ted.
you feel bad for someone who committed wire fraud?
I did too until those charges came in lol
@@Wrestleology until that tho. 😂😂
There’s an alternative reality where Ted Jr is the biggest star in wrestling and Cody is in prison.
He didn't fail misserably he was not a jobber he just won some good matches and he's a former tag champion he was not that bad he just never won the world or single titles let's not forget he had a huge match at WREASTLMANIA 26
Ted jr was solid
I remember I used to have this issue a pro wrestling illustrated were they went on and on about how Ted Junior was going to be this next big star and Cody would never get out of the mid card..
I think if he went to aew with cody he wouldve came bach bigger. Plus if cody never went to aew theres no way in hell hed be a top superstar today.
Ted is the Janetty of stables
I guess we know who the marty janetty of legacy is

Hate to be that guy, but Orton won the title back on an episode of Raw before The Bash 09.
hot take but i enjoyed ted dibiase's work. I'm not sure if wwe just didnt use him properly or my guy was lacking the motivation for it but he could've been great imo.
Hopefully ted dibiase jr returns one day and win a single title
Why was the first part blurred?
